Favourite Waits album?
Hard mode: no Rain Dogs
OP kicking off with this.
That's not hard mode considering his best album is Swordfishtrombones.
Well Bone Machine is obviously the best

It's in the /mu/ rec chart, more accessible I guess.

Foreign Affairs
Old Bones Whiskey Dogs
fav track from that album is "One-Legged Whore"
esp. like the part where he just coughs into a trumpet

Mule Variations followed by Old Bones Whiskey Dogs
>>70763839
Small Change
Frank's Wild Years. Honestly, all of them are right in the bag though.
Are there any news about him?

>>70763839
Can I say Big Time
>>70764311
>>70765512

Convincing though
>>70765666
Nice trips.
It's fake.
>>70765712
Yes, but only because it's you.
Blue Valentine
seriously though its a tie between blue valentine and closing. small change is 2nd
>>70765649
last I heard he demoed a new track on radio months ago.
praying that he's got a new record and tour in him, i'll travel anywhere and pay anything.
>>70766611
Nice dubs.
It's still fake though.
>in a bar
>hear "Ol 55"
> "Oh cool, good song"
>hear "I hope that I don't fall in love with you"
> "nice, two in a row? good segue"
>eventually realize they're playing Closing Time in its entirety
>by the time "Rosie" starts up, I'm settling in for a great evening
what was your favorite night at a bar, /mu/?
Small Change
heartattack and vine desu
Definitely The Heart of Saturday Night. I lfucking love this album.
But yeah, every Waits Album is great.
easily
unpopular opinion
>>70767957
2pooky, wasn't it written as a soundtrack for a play?
>>70767943
this or alice
It's gotta be "Blood Money" for me. It was written for a stage play, and that translates really well into the type of music Tom makes. "Blood Money" feels like a delusional homeless man walked into a run down theater and started crooning to himself.
>>70768506
written with William Burroughs as a play of the same name
Sorry but this is one of my favourite songs of all time, generic or not.

>Tom's next album ends up being his Blackstar/You Want It Darker
I hope the bastard lives longer, but the amount of alcohol he drank and cigarettes he smoked couldn't have been good for him.
>>70768989
>next Waits album doesn't even have lyrics and is just Tom grunting to music
>>70765712
ā€¯Falling Down" is GOAT famalam good pick
>>70770355
>20 minute grunt monologue
Would still buy it
To drunk to remember.
Only know he is one of a very few that can question my life's ways on the cycle of a serm whale.

Obligatory.
Surprised by how good actors they are.
>He said: you cannot live in the ocean
>And she said to him: You never can live in the sky
>But the ocean is filled with tears
>And the sea turns into a mirror
>And there's a whale in the moon when it's clear
>And a bird on the tide
No Rain Dogs? Bone Machine, easily.

ASK A KING OR A BEGGAR AND THE ANSWER HE'LL GIVE IS WE'RE ALL GONNA BE JUST DIRT IN THE GROUND
I love Mule Variations so much, though it's biased because it was my first exposure with Waits. I remember being young and hanging out with my sister's boyfriend at the time, and he put Chocolate Jesus on. Blew my mind.
Closing Time, unironically
I actually love the standard bar room piano man music
Best song is The Piano Has Been Drinking
>>70771200
I don't know how to introduce friends to Waits.
Don't know how well it would go down if I got everyone round and blasted out Big In Japan.
>>70771404
start with either Closing Time, Small change, Swordfishtrombones, or Bone Machine depending on their tastes
none of them
