I have a few. Pic related is one, Pearl Jam - Ten is another one. The Daysleepers - Drowned in a Sea of Sound is one too.

>>70753986
Overrated trash
Gorillaz suck in general. The only decent album is plastic beach
was a 9.5 until i figured out what was happening with Tathagatagarbha
>>70769580
looked this up on yt out of curiousity. care to explain what the point of that song was?
>>70769561
which is one of the two albums that people like from Gorillaz.
>>70753882
>>70769651
The actual song is, contrary to popular belief, not silent. I don't know how it fuckin works, but sometimes when you play the album or the track specifically, you'll hear the robot lady chant kill and the backwards coordinates.
If you want to know what it symbolically meant, "Tathagatagarbha" essentially allows every living being has the possibility to attain buddhahood, fitting with the highly religious themes of the album.
Because buddhahood is about being enlightened, maybe Tathagatagarbha is the ability to notice that the track isn't 23 seconds of silence like most think, Ã la enlightenment.
Or C.C just wants to fuck with people, who knows.
I love every track on this and I will continue to come back to this and other Danny projects until I die, and there's nothing you can do to change that.
>>70766372
I'm still torn between this and Power Corruption and Lies but both are 10's
>>70766372
>thought this was a nice song about his man coming home to his family after they thought he died in the war

>>70763975

>>70769300
I'm going to follow this up with some reasoning:
Ten's full of really distinct, memorable tracks and rhythms. Dose and Yoni's often surreal lyricism is delivered with lots of novel interplay and syncopation that I find really rewarding to anticipate now that I've memorized the songs.
The production captures a foggy, 'olden days' sound (see Rifle Eyes) that I find evocative of old books, unpolished brass and early skyscrapers. There's also a lot of varied instrumentation (dental drills, vocoders, harmoniums) that helps keep each track distinct. Odd Nosdam is a great beatmaker and arranger.
Songs like Son of a Gun and Physics of a Unicycle feature a recurring lyrical motif that aids the cohesion of the album. Despite its ambition and vision, I like the fact that this is an album written by three nerds in some claustrophobic apartment who were just trying to do something different in indie hip-hop.

Audio engineer here. I can explain.
It's actually part deliberate obfuscation, part happy accident. Clarence Clarity made the robot lady's voice really quiet. So quiet, in fact, that human ears probably won't pick it up unless those ears belong to a baby. That's all he did. He just made the track super quiet.
Now, Spotify has an algorithm to prevent this kind of stuff from happening. When you play the entire record, it keeps all of the tracks at their natural volume. However, when you choose tracks specifically (e.g. play Tathagatagharbha immediately without listening to the rest of the record), it will blast the song until the sound is loud enough for you to hear loud and clear. This means sometimes the track will be "silent" (but really just super quiet), and other times the track will be loud enough for you to actually hear it. Clarity wanted it to be quiet until someone manually amplified the track on their own, but Spotify ruined the surprise by doing it automatically.
It's an unintentional glitch/feature/exploit of Spotify's volume adjustment algorithms, but it fit's Clarence's aesthetic, so it's pretty cool either way.
(If you're using Google Play or Apple Music, it might not do it, so you'll just have to sit in a quiet place like a closet, turn it up all the way, and listen closely.)
>>70774597
Well that's disappointing. It's like having a magic trick revealed. Not as high-tech as I thought it would be. :(

Also, any recs?
Not just a personal 10/10 but probably my favorite album ever made
I understand it's not even close to an objective 10/10 but I almost died one time and spent a month in hospital not long after it came out and I listened to it a lot
It was pretty helpful to me in my recovery
>>70769704
goof but first was better
>>70764464
This album is great but the songs are so brief they feel like preview clips of longer better versions. I realize it was likely done intentionally but his next album needs to have 4-5 minute tracks or fucking else.
