Let's discuss our favorites and latest finds
This is some of the best shit I've ever heard, incredibly ambitious and really just top notch atmosphere

He's a very nice guy too. I've been chatting with him online a bit. He created a new album too, out just a couple days ago. He's already planning a new release with some exciting new elements
This was my favorite ds find of 2016
never knew Glenn Danzig made a dungeon synth record, it's actually pretty fucking great
>>70733550
thangorodrim is pretty great! Pic related is some nice dark souls DS from last year
>>70733616
didn't know this existed, damn
>>70733644
Neither did I until a week ago, I'm not even a fan of his, but it's amazing imo
>>70733619
ahh this is nice too. I checked this out a couple weeks ago.
>>70733540
how'd you talk to him? I sent him a message on bandcamp saying I'd buy physical releases but he didn't respond
Any notable releases so far for 2017?
>>70733619
this sucked tho.
>>70734747
haven't found any, but I haven't really looked either. New Old Tower was good. New Erang was alright.
Thank goodness someone made a thread, I was feeling real dungeon synthy tonight.
What are you guys listening to? I gave this Laïlheb album a listen and it was alright, but nothing special really. The black metal vocals are pretty charming though.

This was probably the best DS release from 2016. I don't really enjoy modern Dungeon Synth nearly as much as I enjoy the cozy old tapes from the 90's, but Thangorodrim comes to the closest to recreating that old atmosphere.
This is probably one of my favorite newer releases.

I didn't know Chaucer made dungeon synth
Did anyone else order the Mortiis cassette tapes from Forgein Sound records?
I'm really excited for them to come in.
I really like Fief - II
Anyone got an essential dungeon synth chart?

Check the archive, there are loads.
>>70738916
just wait until Vice Noisey makes the documentary on it
>>70737661
Same, very good "I put on my robe and wizard hat" dungeon synth
>>70733512
This is great and the new one too but that one isn't 3 and a half hours long
>>70739046
Hell I wish it was longer, it honestly never wears out it's welcome
>>70733954
Oh he's on the dungeon synth forum plus I interact with him on rym a bit
>>70733512

I honestly don't get it. It's just so basic in its instrumentation, just sounds like two or three guys noodling away on instruments they don't know how to play.
>>70733540
Can't wait for The Faerie Queen to come out, his next project.
>>70739698
I think it's powerful because of the minimalist instrumentation used, which creates the atmosphere. Whenever I listen to it I zone out and suddenly 3 hours has gone by. Works best if you know how to meditate or can put it on while you nap.

This ones pretty good.
>>70741460
Links to all albums please?
>>70741460
Ty.
>>70737661
yeah, that was great
>>70741551
I found this in the archieve, I don't know if it has all the albums on that chart. But most Dungeon Synth albums are on soulseek as well as the Ascoven blogspot.

Thank you so much! I'm collecting DS atm, appreciate the hook-up.
>>70740966
That'll be sick!
>>70739698
it's so hypnotic though...dungeon synth is all about atmosphere
>>70741601
>>70741651
I'm sure Dungeon Synth Archives on YouTube has most of those. I really like the playlists he sets up based on even more specifics. (Old school, Tolkien inspired, epic/fantasy sounding.)
PS anyone check out 2017 Old Tower? I'm going to look more into it after work.
>>70741665
It's too barebones to be atmospheric. You consider someone plucking a violin and occasionally flicking a triangle atmospheric? DS is about dense layers and textures like dark ambient and black metal, CM has neither of those.

Medieval Breeze makes me feel like a princess
