yeah, the volume is the main thing, there's not much dynamic range at all. If that's the effect you're going for it's fine, but since it's deep house I suspect it's not. Like, the first chord that starts off the track is close to the loudest the entire track is, essentially. Just start with everything at -db when you mixdown and that'll give you much room to work in and let it breathe. Just a thought

good stuff, really love the sounds you're using.
mixing needs a lot of work, lots of layers and reverb tends to get muddy.
and on the long form version of mike's theme your bass is panning from ear to ear and you generally wanna avoid playing with panning when you get that low.
what you can do is filter out the sub bass of the original synth and add a straight sine wave panned dead center so you can keep that effect

I think I know why that happens. The moment I try to change the volume of pretty much anything, I get this god-awful crackling. I'm running Logic Pro, and I've tried all of the settings and alternate drivers and such, so I just have to make do. It is insanely frustrating though.

im gonna be totally honest, i was disappointed when the house bit dropped. i really like the atmosphere you set up beforehand -- it felt really organic. the sawtooth and sidechain kick kill the mood for me: it's not bad, it just feels like your talents lie more towards the ambient sections. i could have totally gone to sleep to it if you removed all of the house aspects, and i mean that in the best way possible.

also i can ship anywhere but it's probably gonna be expensive to ship a cd-r to australia. i'll make it worth it for you though (i could always stuff a second cd in with other stuff or whatever, i personalized a lot of my last tape releases)

I like this more than I expected to, especially that opening guitar riff. I'm curious, what is your recording process/workflow? I make electronic music by myself so I'm always curious to see how musicians work with other musicians.

Thanks. Tbh that EP was recorded in the most asinine way possible, because of hardware limitations. We had to record it isolated but 90% live, into a board and out to a 2-channel usb. Bass and 95% of vocals were dubbed in later; found the sweet spot in my bedroom for natural vocal resonance and exploited it with digital shit.

I do a variety of electronic stuff, too, but almost never record. Here's the last thing I uploaded, though.
