I really miss stuff like this from the 90s.

So this is an Ed Hall thread? Otherwise I actually don't really know what you're going for. Ed Hall threads good for me though.

thought this didn't live up to the hype at all.

this is amazing. the director is a huge shoegaze fan also
This movie is incredible. Also almost every actor was a musician. Listening to the commentary is super worth it
it sure is, I wrote a long review on it in my old Letterboxd account before deleting it and I forgot to save it, anyway here's a glimpse of what I mentioned in review: if you look deeper into this film you'll find out that its main subject, aside from being a documentary of early 90s american youth, is faith.
I also liked the ending where things start to get in slow motion it shows live as it is; plotless

Slacker is okay, but fuck Doom Generation. The only redeeming facet of the latter film is Rose McGowan's prime tits.
Linklater's dialogue is cringey af

More than a movie, a lifestyle.

In addition to being, as I recall, the only band actually in the film, the drummer for Ed Hall is also the guy whondoesnt want to throw the typewriter off the bridge. Very awesome singing voice as well. Check out Love Poke Here for what I think are his best examples. He's the one who's the most high pitched. Then their first album Albert is what the band is playing a song from.
