What does /mu/ think of Allan Holdsworth?
I'm not really interested. I might go and buy some cigarettes.
Underrated guitarist. He's up there with the best of them. He's hindered by the fact that he's never really been tied to one band and usually ends up in bands after their glory years (like Gong and the Soft Machine)

Paul Dano plays guitar?

A true innovator. He's played with so many musicians and he's reinvented his sound so many times it's not even funny. All that while not actually wanting to play guitar.

His chord voicings, melodies are beyond anything anyone could dream about, forget actually playing. What's also great about his music is that you almost can pinpoint the time in was made in - except for some of his 80's works.

Talented as fuck player, but extremely lacking in subtlety. His licks and changes are so upfront and deliberate, you get the impression that he's really flaunting his ideas when they're really not that interesting. Not to mention his tone in his solo stuff is maximum cheese.

>His tone is maximum cheese
You're not being serious, are you? Show me another player that has a similar tone and legato please.
