it's her voice that makes it stand out so much, not as much as the atmosphere like in an mbv or slowdive shoegaze release

Try The Pastels. Slow Summits and Illumination are their most toned down and dream poppy but imo Mobile Safari and Sittin' Pretty are the better albums even though they aren't really /shugazi/ related.

most shugazi is influenced by early dream pop/ethereal wave and/or shoegaze, but it doesn't necessarily have to be, i.e. Grouper doesn't really sound much like Cocteau Twins or MBV, but she's considered shugazi because she sounds dreamy
