Friendly reminder: the kiddies who post in /gg/ threads have nearly ***zero*** experience concerning guitar. Playing, repair, new player recommendations, etc. The average age in these threads is around early 20s: green as shit grass.

If you have an actual question this is probably one of the most uninformed & least knowledgeable places you could ever expect a proper answer to come from.

Be wary of any advice given here as it's amateur & perfunctory at best.

Have a nice day.

Is there much of an improvement between a 2010 prs se and a 2015 prs se? I bought a 2010 used from guitar center for 420 in red but I found a 2015 prs se in blue with a floyd rose used for 550. I'd much prefer the blue over the red and I wouldn't mind have a floyd but I'm wondering if the electronics or build qaulity is better? I'm thinking about upgrading the pick ups anyways so it would be the electronics besides the pick ups.

The prs se from guitar center also has issues. I can't get the truss rod nut to tighten enough to actuall straighten out the neck. The pick ups are slanted inwards for some reason as well.

How can I improve my lead work?

I've gotten really into The Smiths and Johnny Marr's style especially, and I tried to work some of it into my own playing but I'm a shitter and can only play chords/rhythm guitar.

Do I just pick song/riff of my choice and play it slowly until I can improve and play it quicker?
>>
>>70688400
Ashdown do some nice bass compressor pedals, bit pricey though.

Thing with compressors is they add polish to a good sound. With a cheap bass and a crappy amp you won't hear much difference.

Tuner, because bassist dont seem to get the concept of turning down their volume when tuning on stage with a clip on. Also, they manage to lose them more often then they use them. A pedal is harder to lose, and it will mute you.

Or a compressor, because every bass player who chooses to pluck with their fingers because "it's superior" rather than playing whatever style fits the song best can't seem to get the concept of dynamics.

A compressor kills dynamics.

Juay buy a used zoom and fuck around with it and figure out what you like best, then build a rig on it. For a $75 budget can find them easy enough at that.

Somewhat true. Most basses tend to have greater volume at the low strings. Slanting pickups can help but not always.

Theyd be better with an eq pedal with a lo/hi pass filter.

Maybe but I am asking the opinions of the people in this thread. The stores are closed right now and I need to make the decision tonight. I bought a used prs from my local store and ordered some stringer savers for it's vintage tremolo but it turns out the truss rod is fucked up so Im returning it and ordering another one online. If I end up going with the floyd one I need to cancel the string savers order since they are ones for a normal prs tremolo and I have to cancel it by tonight.

I've noticed the same thing when I play. My B, E, A, and some times D, strings are louder than the G string.
Additionally, everything above the 5th Fret C on the G string is muted, with said C being nearly inaudible.
I've sort of fixed it by messing around with my pick up volumes, tone, and EQ levels on my bass.
C is still a dead fret, though. Think I need a new bass.

Justification for dropping wither $2,200 or $6,100 on a bass? A single dead fret that I rarely play. What's wrong with me?
>>
>>70690184
Oh cool, bumblebee capacitors, well worth the $100 for a rewrapped item that isnt even nos. Oh yeah, they definetly sound different than the 10 cent ceramic or poly film capacitors. Theyre such an important part of tone(pun intended), especially when you keep your tone knob turned all the way up so no signal is feeding through them anyways.

Gibson are the apple of guitars.

So I feel like I should mention something about that...

the Bigsby problem I'm sperging about when they're mentioned isn't just a Bigsby problem. It's a problem with Tune O matics and all kinds of other bridges. When you have something feeding a string into a bridge, It should never have a large break angle. When you see ToM bridges that have a tailpiece set way under the bridge, that's also really bad for your guitar.

A lot of people alleviate this by putting their strings through it backwards so it wraps over the top of the tailpiece, which is totally unnecessary. They have screws on the tailpiece for a reason, turn them up and get it ALMOST even with your bridge.

If you ever want to not worry about this shit, get a Schaller Hannes. My only complaint about them is that some might not like the tone that comes with having a a composite graphite type material for your bridge. I have them on all of my "bright" guitars though

yeah none of this is correct
you're just trying to present your subjective opinion as objective fact

lol, it's just physics

break angles on a string are a necessary detriment, but you can minimize the problems from having them by having less

let me put it to you this way since you're not thinking about the physics at all most likely

It's widely accepted that NOT having a large back angle on your headstock like Gibson does is better. Why wouldn't it be the same for your bridge?

People don't like the gibson neck angle because drilling a space for the truss rod makes a weak point in the neck where they tend to break.

It's actually better for tuning stability to have that angle.

End your life.

Is the BEHRINGER VINTAGE TUBE MONSTER VT999 with a JJ Electronics T-12AX7-S-JJ Vacuum Tube worth it? I really want a good pedal but I'm on a budget. Also my amplifier is a bugera v5 minimum so I'm not sure if it's actually a good amp pls no bully. I'm barely becoming intermediate and I play with a stratocaster but I doubt that detail matters.

a Gretsch amp?

I've never played one but I have not once in my life seen anyone use one. I've never even seen one in a shop
>>70691158
String trees are pointless on most guitars that have them, and are for sure pointless if you have compensated tuning pegs

also yeah, a massive fucking backbend on your headstock is exactly what leads to a broken headstock, see: every Gibson ever taking a trip to snap city because they have retarded headstock design in addition to having no neck volute
>>
>>70691174

Fuck the power supply you'll need for get.
Get a used Tubescreamer.
You'll never be able to resell that god awful Behringer.

>a Gretsch amp?
guitar, Didnt know if type mattered
>>
>>70691204

The thing that breaks it isn't the angle itself, it's the fact that the truss rod requires a cavity be drilled that leaves very little wood. They've since put extra wood back there to fix it.

So pick a new argument.

others i should look at? thought about Ampeg but fuck is it pricey for the 70's/earlier ones

also cab recommendations very welcome

gee biff, that would actually make sense if every other guitar didn't also have a truss rod

LOLyou moron thanks for the laugh
>>

Couldn't tell you about the Mig, but my bassist just got a '71 V4 and modded it to be closer to the SVT. Great bang for the buck head if you want that crunchy old sound.
