Tame Impala is hands down the best band in the world right now. They are not pretty good, they are pretty incredible. But more than just how good they are, They represent the first ripple in a massive change that we are about to go through musically as well as culturally. I think that over the course of the next 10 years we are going to see a sort of mini-renaissance similar to what we saw in the late 50s-60s post war. With pot and gay marriage soon to be legal federally its gonna be a whole new world. 2012 end of the world isn't the end of human life, its the end of one way of thinking and the start of another. Pot...cash...crop...money! As someone already said here on reddit, The united states will be the only country in the world were pot is legal federally. We are gonna have jobs again, and money to burn. Money to spend on art and music. In a sense, a need will be created for GOOD art and music. Not something that is coldy manufactured by hitmakers. Tame Impala is leading the charge! They are proving that people CAN tell the difference between real and manufactured music! Im not saying Tame Impala are the next Beatles but they are making enough waves to make change. Moral of story, Tame Impala Rocks!!!! They (kevin park) are making real beautiful music that only happens when a talented person commits a lot of time to something that they are passonate about. Tame Impala is a real life "bedroom" band, they way it is meant to be .

It's the MPP of their carrier I think. Also the shift of sound is off putting for me personally. Not a bad record but every time I hear it I want them to return to making their Lonersim-esqe stuff which will never happen.

you mean the album that is brickwalled to shit and sounds awful? currents is a step up in his career as a productionist in my opinion. you can always just listen to lonerism if you want to listen to what he was going through at the time, currents is something all on its own. if he would have stuck to the dream glam 70s aesthetic you would complain hes not progressing and just a revivalist artist.

Not memeing here I would actually not care if he stayed with doing the dream glam 70's thing. Also he didn't produce the first two albums (which I liked the production on) and I didn't like the production on Currents (which he did do).

8-9 for Lonerism is fine. For me, Currents is at least a 7/10. Kevin's vocals can be repetitive and there are definitely one or two duds throughout. I have a sweet spot for the electronics worked into this album and the grooves are just too good.

kevin parker has done the production on all of his albums but dave friendman from the flaming lips did the mixixng and general engerring things on the first two albums. currents was undertaken by kevin parker alone and its of much higher quality than the flat walled off sound from the first two. theyre suppose to be throw backs to the older psych sound but they dont have to be mixed so poorly that they sound awful turned up on a speaker, in my opinion.
