Yeah the 80s chart is tanking....
I don't think we're gonna have enough.
>>
>>70669386
if we finish it and there is a certain amount of rows that is mostly unfilled we should just cut them off, but some anons might know some good ones

Neither do I!
This is a trainwreck!
I'm already planning on aborting the mission.
Should we just make this a thread for discussing the other charts?

Those early beastie boys EPs are literally hardcore punk they don't need to be on a hip hop chart

Sorry.
>>
>>70670058
You should make it smaller desu
There's like a 100 slots. There were not 100 good hiphop albums in the 80's
they barely got airtime back then my man

Well how about I post the other 2 charts and we talk about the albums on THAT?

(The 90s chart didn't save to my ropsters so I'm rushing to get that done.)
>>
>>70669755
Maybe you could use some of these as a start; see if they all fit

>Boogie Down Productions- Criminal Minded (1987)
>Run- D.M.C- Raising Hell (1987)
>Ultramagnetic MC's- Critical Beatdown (1988)
>Jungle Brothers- Straight Out the Jungle (1988)
>Biz Markie- Goin' Off (1988)
>EPMD- Strictly Business (1988)
>The D.O.C.- No One Can Do It Better (1989)
>Too Short- Born to Mack (1987)
>Marley Marl- In Control, Volume 1 (1988)
>Eric B. and Rakim- Follow the Leader (1988)
>Queen Latifa- All Hail the Queen (1989)
>Salt-N-Pepa- Hot, Cool & Vicious (1986)
>Ice-T- Rhyme Pays (1987)
>MC Lyte- Lyte as a Rock (1988)
>Afrika Bambaataa & Soulsonic Force- Planet Rock: The Album (1986)
>Kool Moe Dee- How Ya Like Me Now (1987)
>MC Shan- Down by Law (1987)
>Eazy-E- Eazy-Duz-It (1988) (if it fits; if not, then the Boyz-N-The-Hood single from 1987; if that doesn't fit, don't bother)
>Wild Style Original Soundtrack (was released in 1994, but the songs were recorded in 1982-1983, so I think it counts, plus that movie is probably the most influential and essential hip hop movie out there)
>>
Have you guys seen that hiphop evolution documentary series on netflix? It's pretty damn good
>>
>>70670132
Here's some more you could use:
>>70669929 (1982)
>The Fat Boys- Fat Boys (1984)
>World Class Wrecking Cru (1985) (Dr. Dre's debut on record)
>2 Live Crew- As Nasty As They Wanna Be (1989)
>C.I.A.- My Posse (1987) (single, but it's Ice Cube's and Sir Jinx's debut on record)
>N.W.A- N.W.A and the Posse (1987) (if it fits)
>Gang Starr- No More Mr. Nice Guy (1989)-???; they didn't really catch on until their second album
>>
I don't think we're doing this 80s chart guys...

I just don't know where to cut off or anything. I just...I don't know.
I did the other 3 charts so give me credit for that at least.

No worries OP, you're putting the work in
>>
>>70670426
You could probably get away with one row from 1979 (first two recorded hip hop songs came out that year)-1985 and then just do yearly rows for the rest; the names I listed were pretty much all the big names from the '80's though, so you may have a point; don't know if those are enough

This is the best I could do. I took a lot of liberties, but I couldn't stand not even trying. Recommend any replacements, whatever y'all want
(I apologize for RHCP being there but I needed something, sue me)

You are a god damn saint.
Good job man. Props to you.

I think we should discuss all the charts here.
I'm almost done re-doing the 90s chart.

You did a great job man.
(Design wise, if you wanna match the others, make the background pitch black and the font Times New Roman)
>>
>>70670477
did you include singles in this chart?

not past 83 but that was the only way i could lol

I'll post the other charts so we can discuss them.

Here's the 90s one.

; maybe replace Eddie Murphy with the Wild Style soundtrack for 1982 for the reason I stated, and maybe replace Dana Dane with the C.I.A single (up to you though)

>tfw No Mad Illusions
>>
>>70670772
It actually took me 3 attempts to get the chart right.

I didn't even want the Thugga albums there but his Stans insisted 'OHHE'SSOIMPORTANTANDGREATHESBETTERTHANKENDRICKFUCKYOU'...

And then when I added one
'THAT'STHEWRONGTHUGGAALBUM'!

Luckily the second and third attempts went smoother.
>>
>>70670736
Alright, for 1984, replace RHCP with UTFO's single "Hanging Out" (the B-side, "Roxanne, Roxanne" instigated one of the big hip hop feuds of the 80's, the Roxanne Wars; it's even mentioned on Illmatic, it was that major; it preceded the Bridge Wars)
>>
>>70670843
Fixed. No need to re-upload it considering how many times I have, if enough changes are made I'll re-up it.
>>
>>70670900
You're better at this than I am, should I be jealous?

(And I've done like a dozen chart threads)
>>
>>70670900
Oh shit, big mistake; that single got popular, but it was actually the response single by Roxanne Shante, produced by Marley Marl, called "Roxanne's Revenge" later that year which started the feud. Really, really sorry about that
>>
>>70670934
But since both singles were rather big during 1984, it's your choice on whether you feel like changing it or not
>>
>>70670934
Still an important track if it warranted a response single nonetheless. No worries

Haha, I was just about to post that I wish we could put the two 1979 singles on the chart so we would be back to hip-hop's beginnings on wax, but I guess that's taken care of kek. Otherwise, I don't think anyone else would have problems with it
>>
So the question is...

...Which chart is the BEST?
>>
>>70671102
I'm willing to concede that it's not mine (considering the fact that many singles that can't be found on youtube are on there as are singles and the album that the single is from).
I think the 90s one is the best
>>
>>70671102
There are better albums on the 90s chart, but I think the 10s one is the most representative of the overall 'sound' at the time
>>
>>70671102
00's I agree with the most
>>
>>70671163
The fact that Tupac isn't anywhere on there might be divisive though, considering his influence
>>70671102
Maybe you should repost all the charts tomorrow morning, since a lot of people might've gone to bed
>>
>>70671163
Honestly I'm just glad I got every roots album on all the cha-....

....
I forgot 'And Then You Shoot Your Cousin'
FUCKING HELL!

>>70671237

One of these albums should be replaced by 'Shoot Your Cousin'.

I'm leaning towards replacing Dark Comedy or Lese.

Any objections?
