What does /mu/ think about Kurt Cobain's top 50 albums?
solid.
How come it says nirvana not kurt
Considering he listened to all this stuff before the internet, then it's a pretty great list. I always like how he has the one token hip hop album though.

was never big on nirvana but always respected Cobain's taste, especially considering this was made before some of these had been canonized

Why did it not include his favorite: The Shotgun. I'm actually really sry Kurt plz dont come down from Nirvana and ban me.
why didn't he draw influence from all these bands then? His music was alright but it's basically just college rock

How come no Meat Puppets or King Crimson - Red?
Thank God no Foetus
No melvins... is this even real?

well it was probably put together haphazardly, he gets some of the titles wrong too
>PJ Harvey
The man had good taste. Too bad that taste didn't show up in his songwriting.

I mean he died before Illmatic was even released, and I'm not seeing any albums post-1992 on the list, so it might be from around then. So that'd be pre-Wutang, pre The Chronic, pre Ready To Die, etc. Not to say that there weren't classics before then, but this was pre internet as another commenter mentioned. Only a select few broke into the national attention (3 Feet High And Rising, Straight Outta Compton, etc.)

or Melvins or Jesus Lizard
I find it fascinating that after so many developments in music, The Stooges still often end up being such a large influence on bands decades after their existence. Gira said one of the if not the single largest influence on Swans is The Stooges, and here we got Nirvana/Cobain saying that the album Raw Power by The Stooges is their number 1 of all time.
