Why is album art always in a square shape?
because circles fit in squares
cuz it was inexpensive to package vinyl records between two sheets of square shaped cardboard, then people started putting art on the squares

Because it's a standard and because it's easy to do it properly. Imagine if it wasn't square: everyone would do their own format (4:3, 1:2, 9:5, whatever). It would be a mess. Even assuming everyone would agree on a fixed format (e.g. 4:3) how could you be sure everyone would measure correctly every time?

because if more easy to export more vinyls with that shape, circles will waste space. think more about things, and never stop making questions.
vsauce here, michael out.
Phonograph/gramophone records, be it shellac or the more modern vinyl, were the dominant format ever since the creation of recorded music.
