Found this new band called FLATLANDS, they only have one song out right now but have an EP coming this saturday which I'm kind of excited for. They're only on Facebook/soundcloud until Saturday though.

Indie is anything not put out by a major record label, anything done by an INDEPENDENT label or artist is indie. since that almost anything how could it be apart of a genre... sort of like lo-fi, except lo-fi actually describes a characteristic of the music.

I always have an internal spas attack when people say "man this sounds real indie" or "i only like indie music"

I think that nowdays you can say, that "indie rock" is specified genre. Of course you can't say that "indie" is genre, but if you specify it in someway (f.e. adding rock to it) it is OK.
