Why are Italians in general so patrician when it comes to music?
>>70603056
he cares about the way music is made and how many dollars artist earns with it more than about actual music
he doesn't listen to albums completely
artist's popularity also changes his opinions
he's not patrician, he's contrarian at best

I never listened to a single Beatles album
Music itself is pretty well embedded into Italian culture, that's why. And not just music as sheer poppy entertainment, but music as an artform. Went to Italy seven to eight months back, granted I visited mostly the big well known cities, but I don't think that even US cities have as much jazz/classical stuff just casually happening all over the place, with the people that are there who often know their shit.
Compare this 600 album list from an Italian music magazine compared to what Rolling Stones and P4K give us. Sure, a lot of the same popular names, but also not afraid to have some slightly more unconventional yet also great stuff as well.

If this is a Scaruffi thread, yeah a lot of what Scaruffi thinks is good is typical Italian circle stuff (nobody liked The Pop Group's Y more than the Italians did back then, and it's one of Scaruffi's 9s as well.) Italians don't mindlessly hate The Beatles and shit though like Scaruffi does.
