Also, At War With Satan is easily one of if not the best album of 1984.

When I first heard Venom I thought they sounded really dumb.

A few years later I got really into Amebix, to the point that they're one of my favorite bands. I heard Rob Miller, bassist/vocalist of Amebix, reject the notion that they were at all influenced by Venom. He basically said they were just silly.

Anyway, I recently went back and listened to Venom again, and I actually really like it, but holy shit they sound exactly like Amebix. So, is Rob Miller lying?

Yeah, it took me a few listens to really understand and appreciate it, I actually fell asleep the first time I listened to the A side title track. It really grows on you, it's probably one of the first examples of good progressive metal as the title track is 20 minutes and filled with constantly innovating riffs, and the B side is also near perfect. I'm also a sucker for concept albums which makes me like it more.
