I didn't know they were, but I loved Interpol's first album, and they were fucking terrible live. Just lethargically going through the motions. I think they tried to put all the attention on their stupid light show. The ironic thing is, Liars opened for them, and Liars were fantastic - they just went insane, it was like seeing the MC5. But none of the skinny effeminate hip asshole audience were into it, so there were a few of us standing by the stage, slack jawed, while everyone else did other things. Then as soon as Interpol went on they started dancing with themselves, nodding their heads like Peanuts characters
