Since CD's hold digital files which can be stored just as efficiently (if not more) on a computer this makes them only useful as collectors items.

Vinyl, on the other hand is also only useful as a collectors item 70% of the time. In order to actually get some unique worth out of vinyl records, one needs to make sure that the record he buys is cut from the original analogue recording (if it even was mastered for analogue in the first place), not a bootleg and in good condition. He then needs to maintain that good condition by cleaning his records in an effective and non-harmful way. And finally, he needs a decent setup with which to enjoy his records.

In other words, vinyl trumps CD as long as the collector isn't some dumb hipster mong.
