This, I think Beefheart himself considers it his best record. Scaruffi btfo.

Doc at the Radar Station is a really amazing album.

he certainly had a great natural talent for rhythm and tying sounds together - you could say he was a blues-savant or some shit

Shiny Beast (Bat Chain Puller), Ice Cream for Crow and Doc At The Radar Station all have genius moments, although I think as albums all are somewhat flawed

Spotlight Kid and Clear Spot are also great as is Lick My Decals Off, Baby

Maybe this was hard mode because he made so many albums that have great moments, but also some flaws

I think this thread should be about posting incredible Beefheart tracks, such as this one that qualifies as one of the best music videos of all time:

Love this video and the music is pretty accessible too.

Really good, nails the same emotions as Zappa's 60s music does. I find it weird that Beefheart is seen as the weirder of the two since his music is just unorthodox blues rock while Zappa covers way more bases

Based off the ones I've heard:
Lick My Decals Off > Trout Mask Replica > Safe as Milk > Mirror Man
>>
Lick My Decals Off, Baby is on par with Trout Mask and is one of the greatest albums of all time. Way better than Safe as Milk.

Bellerin' Pain might be the best track he ever recorded.
>>
Mirror Man Sessions are really good
