Picked up a used but good condition Pioneer PL-400 not too long ago. Is this thing considered good compared to other players?

lol. I've been there so many times. I sold mine and bought a denon dp300 with an oraphone blue. It sounds 10 times better.

I bought one of these new in the fall of 1980 and it still works flawlessly. I paid about $300 for mine at a Electronics liquidation sale in Las Vegas where I was living at the time. Very solid piece of audio equipment you have acquired.. At the time I had it attached to a SX-780 Receiver.

its a nice turntable but it looks ugly as fuck
UK company Gearbox has their new vinyl player solution on Kickstarter
they make excellent vinyl albums, I don't know what to think of their player:
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1865098753/the-gearbox-automatic-an-autostreaming-hifi-turnta
looks like they are not meeting the goal, but the project reads like it might be pretty cool if it came out
let me know LP player experts how that Kickstarter campaign looks to you

Looks like an award they give for celebrity chef of the year. Is the joke that it is the shittiest possible image quality?
Best? you can get really outrageous if you have the money.
Better question is best turntable for your budget...in which case I could actually help.

Nah dude. They should concentrate less on shit gimmicks and more on producing a solid turntable with great sound reproduction. The sort of people that would spend £400+ on a turntable aren't interested in that shit.
Remove the gimmicks, lower the price and attract a wider consumer base.
