Let them say whatever thay want, you know better what is the better album. I liked that Ellie Goulding album (Delirium), but AA is on a whole new level: weirder, more innovative, better songs and somehow even catchier. Grimes really showed how pop music should be done.
>>70470094
Nah you're right. Total bitch irl though
That album is awful OP. there's no reconciliation with the musical elitism of this board if you like it. I suggest you find a better place to discuss such things as dreary, uninspired crap coming from a self-proclaimed artist whose only accomplishment is a good body.
For my submission I put forward something of great standing around here, the famous "Hissing Fauna, Are You The Destroyer?" album by Of Montreal. Successfully melding glittery, flamboyant rock with pop-like song progression and surprisingly dark lyrics(delivered astonishingly well by frontman Kevin Barnes), Hissing Fauna is a premier example of the indie movement in the mid-2000's. With topical songs about existentialism, allusions to problems with mental health and the decried "cure" in the form of antidepressants, and a successfully executed concept of a man undergoing transformation mid-album, Of Montreal is able to deliver a heartfelt and interesting album that is easily listenable by a wider audience. Often cited as one of the greatest albums to come out of the 00's decade, it will surely hold strong throughout the test of time and inspire generations to come.

oh wow fuck off with this stupid cunt, i swear to god i hate Marina so fucking much. I'm glad Froot sold like shit and that her "career" is over now. Fucking cunt
she is quite possibly the worst female musican out there, not only is she ugly as fuck but she also aged like shit and is balding.
now to her music, her Voice the single most irritating thing in existence but so is her FL Studio preset production. Don't even get me started on her """""Lyrics""""" which barely make sense. She thinks she's special because she can pull of high and deep notes eventhough 60% of female musicans can do that (Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Lana del Rey just to name a few) Her voice is literally shit, it is painfull to listen to and i get a headache everytime i hear it:

Lyrically, Emotion can basically be summarized almost literally as, "I want to have sex with you / let's have sex / I wish you stayed so we could have sex / I'm not here to not have sex / remember when we had sex?", which is disappointing because otherwise, it's not your typical vapid pop album. It deserved a little lyrical variety or, at the very least, some more subtlety and creativity. Also, the album art coloring is a bit dull. 9/10 if not for these two conspicuous flaws; 8.5/10 with them.
Unfortunately and almost laughably, B Sides continues this tired lyrical formula, mercilessly driving it even further into the ground, proving once and for all that whomever(s) wrote the lyrics truly had one hell of a dedicated one-track, un-nuanced, uninspired mind. But whereas Emotion makes up for it by actually making you feel good emotions because it's such a well made pop album in nearly all aspects, the only emotion B Sides evokes is, "when will this mediocre snoozefest finally end". 5.5/10.
>>70471857

>original theory when asked "What happened to popular music in the early '10s?"
Top 40 radio stopped playing hip-hop. That's all there is to it. Am I really surrounded by a bunch of faggots who are too young to remember hit radio from the mid-'00s and note the drastic change after 2010?
"Tik Tok" almost single-handedly killed '00s urban, such as Kanye, T-Pain, Chris Brown, the Black Eyed Peas, etc. by ushering in EDM to the radio. It wasn't the Hot 100 AND AT40 year-end number one for no reason. It made the lyrics and rhythm irrelevant and proved you only needed a hard electro beat and autotune to drive a track to number one. Taio Cruz assisted with "Dynamite", which laid the foundation for the conventional pop of the '10s.
2011 saw "Party Rock Anthem", "Like a G6", "Give Me Everything", "E.T", and "We Found Love" hit number one on the Hot 100. Kesha, Pitbull, LMFAO, and the like became more profitable than artists like Chris Brown and T-Pain. Mid-'00s stalwarts like Rihanna and Maroon 5 drastically changed their sound to adapt to the new era of pop. Finally, whatever "alternative" music that made the radio before, like Owl City and Plain White T's, were replaced by the sound Adele installed with "Rolling in the Deep", "Someone Like You", and the rest of 21.
>how this relates to the success of dumbed-down mumble rap
The only artists that could make it through were artists like GS Boys ("Booty Dew", "Stanky Leg"), Cali Swag District ("Teach Me How to Dougie"), Rejectz ("Cat Daddy"), New Boyz ("You're a Jerk", "Tie Me Down"), and of course Soulja Boy ("Crank That", "Kiss Me thru the Phone"), because their lyrics were either easy to censor or hard to understand in the first place, giving them massive amounts of airplay. As the '00s style of urban music declined in the late '00s/early '10s and modern trap started to take over the genre, it naturally merged with the low-intelligence rap to maximize profits.
Not even memeing.
Why hasn't this been posted yet?

>Grimes is ok but shes not even better than chairlift in that group of 'try to be wacky weirdos music'. Her lyrics just aren't good enough to be taken seriously.
Are you serious? Chairlift's last album was trash. They're much weaker than Grimes. And speaking of lyrics, how could you dismiss the Grimes' lyrics and pretend nonsense lyrics like http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/chairlift/amanaemonesia.html are better? Let's be real!
>Tegan and Sara can make a fucking amazing song, catchy as fuck, beautiful emotional lyrics.
Same thing for Grimes. Listen to Oblivion, Genesis, Realiti, Flesh Without Blood, Be a Body,...
Speaking of lyrics, they're never more important than the actual music. T&S's weak spot is that they always sing about love. Grimes is way, way more diverse.
>>70485123
NMH is overrated trash, AA is actually great. Once in a while /mu/ get things right.
>>70485171
A.G. Cook, easyFun and Hannah Diamond are my favourites. I recommend easyFuns Deep Trouble EP. Sophie is also one of the better artists from PC Music. MSMSMSMS and Just Like We Never Said Goodbye bangs hard. Haven't heard much Lifesim or Dux Content. Where to start?

Dux Content the album Lifestyle is pretty good but my favourite songs are:
Snow Globe and Like You (+Like You Slow Mix) are amazing
Life sim is only IDL but its one of the best songs ever.
And yeah AG Cook is unreal everything he does just feels like it comes from some special world, altho i didn't like the new vocals over the old nightcore Superstar... just something about that voice i didn't like

mate you better stop with this honetly. if i was as autistic as you and had the time, i would have showed you that youre wrong in 80%.
first of all we all know that marina aged not that well. thats how nature works so dont cry about it.
her voice? just listen to her EP, KatyB and Candy and then shut the fuck up. Maybe you just dont like her voice, but i love it and i dont think its that bad.
thats right she never really had success, but let me tell you that she doesnt give 2 shit about that. She wanted to become famous no question, but shes already satisfied with her situation. She had nothing and worked so hard for the bit of fame she has and im glad that it worked out and that she managed to have enough money to have a good life and that she could save her future or at least provide for it.
but you never think about that nor do you do deeper in her life. all you do is acting autistic and post the same picture everytime with the same filename showing that youre just pathetic

I've been in love but it doesn't mean I fancy listening to songs about love all day long.
>What does grimes sing about? Stopping packaging to save the enviroment and stopping DRUMPF MANNNNNN!!!!!
Lots of stuff: about snippets from her life, environment, death, unrequited love, sci fi, fantasy, etc.
e.g. Oblivion is about this:
>In your videos this year, you played with these clichés of powerful and powerless female archetypes. What was that about?
>I was interested in the Japanese archetype of a female protagonist who is very small and very cute and very physically powerful. You don’t see that archetype in America. But in Japanese culture, there are female characters who can embody this girl uniform and still cut someone’s head off with a sword. “Oblivion” embodies that kind of archetype, going into this masculine world that is associated with sexual assault, but presented as something really welcoming and nice. The song’s sort of about being — I was assaulted and I had a really hard time engaging in any types of relationship with men, because I was just so terrified of men for a while.
>Is it important for you to discuss what “Oblivion” is about?
>It would be intense if it were an overwhelming part of my image. I can’t censor myself; it’s really important for me to say how I feel. I needed to put out this song. I needed to make this song. I took one of the most shattering experiences of my life and turned it into something I can build a career on and that allows me to travel the world. I play it live every night. The whole process has been positive — engaging with that subject matter and making it into something good.
That's way more powerfully emotional than anything from T&S combined.

>>70496541
Plastic Beach doesn't quite get as "low" as DD does in terms of energy and good pop melody, what I mean by that is, Kids With Guns through Feel Good Inc is a god tier stretch of songs, then it just drones on, until you hit Dare through the self titled track at the end.
Just needs more cohesiveness, is all. If you could replace tracks 7-11 with the best songs from PB, it would quite possibly be one of the best albums of all time.
>>70472854
i'd rather cut myself then listen to this again
>>70496131
No it's not. It has one or two songs that are better than anything on DD, but it also has plenty of songs that are worse than anything on DD.
