Incorrect. They have stagnated. Their sound doesn't hold up against new and more exciting alternative rock and "progressive metal" if you want to call it that.
ISIS, Neurosis, Mastadon, Deafheaven, even the reformed Alice and Chains have surpassed Tool.
Also, Maynard's side projects are all shit.
I used to LOVE tool, but now I find them tedious.
