I personally make it to have a sense of purpose. I do it to convince myself I'm not an utter waste of humanity. It's fulfilling to create something that others can enjoy, and will remember you for, and to have something you're better than people at.
Take away my music, and what do I have? Nothing.
No other qualities. No other purpose. Just nothing.
