Why not The Drift?
>>70399385
It's not quite as harrowing and unpleasant.
>>70399413
Hmm, is it really less unpleasant? Tilt is melodic, at least. Just curious
>>70399471
The Drift seems more surreal than dark. I mean, it's definitely dark but it goes less for a palpable sense of unease and tension and more for abstraction. Plus a lot of the lyrics on The Drift are intentionally camp.

And Bish Bosch is even more surreal, yeah? And Tilt seems to be the only one without dada interwoven.
I love dada in music, but I prefer the more "jolly dada," like in Soft Machine, so I like Tilt best.

Don't get me wrong, I love The Drift and Bish Bosch but they don't gut me like Tilt does. I get too depressed to even cry. I just stare unblinking at the ceiling until my eyes dry and start burning but I'm too terrified to close my eyes for a second.
Forgive the faggotry of that hyperbole, but it's true.

I don't really get the same feeling you do. I know the lyrics are supposed to be dark and depressing, but it seems more "dramatic" (in a good way), like something out of Phantom of the Opera. Like a Greek tragedy...that doesn't really "pull the heartstrings" but is impactful in a dark way.

I agree. It doesn't pull the heartstrings. It's not a personal tragedy. It's a cosmic one. It's impending calamity and the four horsemen. It's the stars going out one by one.
