Just an audio interface to plug your guitar into. You can pirate the necessary amp-simulator software (I like Amplitube best, some prefer Guitar Rig).

Yup. I'd highly suggest getting into Rocksmith if you're gonna stream though, it's much more entertaining for viewers. In which case you just use the 'RealTone' cable that the game requires.

You can use a crack to play the game without the cable (just use your audio interface in place of the cable), but I've struggled to get that working correctly.
>>
>>70383464
thanks for your input but i'm not really into rocksmith. i'm mainly a drummer but i've been playing guitar more lately so i don't have to rely on other people to write music for me. i thought i'd start taking lessons once a week and stream my progress while i just practice and have fun in between lessons.

In 2 weeks I will join a band for their first practice to see if it works out.
I've only been playing for 5 months and never before with a band.
Any tips or advice?
>>
>>70384321
Practise, practise, practise.

Learn as many of their songs as possible - they should have some sort of recording available even if it's a room mike from rehearsal or a desk feed.
>>
>>70383269
It's not that easy to stream to twitch. The reason is that you'll probably use an audio interface that uses some kind of ASIO drivers that your streaming program (OBS or other) will not detect correctly, so you will not stream the sound of the guitar.
You can feed your mic trough the HP cables or use some program that will transform the ASIO output into a Windows drivers sound.
>>
>>70384346
nah it's their first practice too so they are trying to cover a few songs before getting into writing their own, but they gave me a list of 4 songs they want me to learn, so i'll be doing the practice for sure
>>
>>70384368
Get those down, then.

You want to be able to get through them without chord charts.

Hey guys, looking for an amp that I could use for jamming/band practice/small gigs around the €500-700 mark. At that kind of price range do you think it's a good idea to go the tube route or should I just bite the bullet and get a digital modelling amp, most likely the Boss meme 100W. I generally like a dirty, fast and loose style sound, but would really like a good clean channel too and if the amp could handle a metal sound also that'd be awesome. Cheers guys.
>>
>>70384996
>dirty, fast and loose style sound

tube amps and modelling amps are basically opposites

tube amps do one or two 'sounds' really really well, and then you can add some pedals to make it a little funkier, etc.

whereas modelling amps are designed to do 1000 sounds pretty darn well. and some, like the kemper, come very very very very very close. but it just isn't the same. maybe it's just meme magic or placebo effect, but there's somethign a bit more honest about the sound of a tube amp.

the best way to decide is just get out there and demo some amps. andertons vids are also pretty comprehensive gear reviews, despite chappers shitty guitar playing.
>>
What are some good funk sounding chords?
What's the theory behind that?
>>
>>70385131

>>
>when youre a macho country singer with a 19yo qt gf and about to hit the real big time but all you want is a fok in te bum
>>
>>70385196
because a major 6th =/= a 13th chord

also he's meming you. a 13th chord has the 1 3 5 7 9 11 + 13th, that's 7 notes. impossible to play on guitar (unless youre a memester)
>>
>>70385253
No, a 6th and 13th are the same interval

Where did you take the 7 9 11 from? A 13th chord is just 1 3 5 13
>>
>>70385287
Learn how chords work
>>
>>70385304
I already know, tell what is wrong
>>
>>70385253
Not memeing at all, you just need to be creative with what you leave in or out with how you voice the chords
>>
>>70385131
9# chords are funky as hell
>>
>>70385309
they call it a 13th because it includes those notes, the same way a 9th is different from an add4
>>
>>70385309
triad = 1 3 5
7th = 1 3 5 7
9th = 1 3 5 7 9
11th = 1 3 5 7 9 11
13th = 1 3 5 7 9 11 13

what you described was an added 6th chord
>>
>>70385059
That's good advice, if I could afford a kemper I reckon I would pull the trigger on one. However I can't and I have to admit, there is something special about playing a tube amp imo, like you say maybe it is just meme magic but hey if you think it makes a difference then it does, even if it's only in your own head. Been looking at some Orange amps, even their solid state stuff seems pretty good. Unfortunately my local guitar store is shite incarnate so it's not always that easy to try gear out.

I actually like Chappers vids, but the more I develop as a player, the less impressive his memery seems.
>>
>>70385426
the fender hot rod iii is pretty well reviewed and should fall within your price range.

you might be able to get like a used deluxe or princeton reverb, ac30, etc. just remember that tube amps are loud as all fuck whereas a modelling amp can sound great at bedroom volumes.
>>
>>70385663
Hmm I hadn't considered the hot rod actually, might be a good shout that, cheers
>>

>>
>>70385059
Most new guitarists miss the reason why tube amp's are still so popular. The thing about a good tube amp is that you can set it up to react naturally to your picking dynamics. With a good tube amp you can set it to sound cleanish with light picking and distorted when you slash out a hard power chord. A single volume knob on your guitar takes those variations in controllable dynamic distortion even further. This is just the natural way most good tube amps behave.

Now if picking dynamics don't matter in your music then a solid state/modeling amp will do the job just fine (see Dimebag with his Randall and all the Djent 0-0-0 babbys who use the Fractal Modelers).
>>
>>70385790
plenty of modelling amps are capable of replicating dynamic sensitivty. even cheap ones like the thr10

>>
>>70385776
Isolate the parts you have trouble with - recording yourself is great for finding what is wrong - this could be a tricky run, chord change, even a single shift or whatever.

Slow the problem down to a speed where you cannot play it wrong and gradually increase speed, then make sure you are able to play in and out of the passage as well.

A big part of practise is being able to analyse what is causing the problem - it could be a shitty fingering or getting out of sync with your picking.

With posture, sit up straight a don't hunch over the neck trying to watch you fingers - classical position is good for this.
>>
>>70385809
I owned a Kemper, it can't. When I A/B the modeled tone with my main rig it wasn't even close. It didn't even sound close to my Mesa never mind the nonexistent dynamics.

lol, meal babbys only use Fractal modelers live because a lot of tube dynamic nuance gets lost in a live show when you have your mid knob set on 0, plus they end up save money on shipping because the unit is so light. You'll never see them being use in a recording situation though because of their subpar tone and dynamic response.

It's funny how upset you got just because some knowledgeable Anon on 4chan had the gall to contradict the advertising you're parroting though.

Personally I'm not into trying to blend genres together, but rather trying to do new sound textures in an established genre or new kind of harmonies.
Except I'm bad at it and I can't buy zany pedals.

none of those are jambands by any degree. Jam bands take their music and extend it out several minutes (sometimes as long as 45 minutes to an hour) of improvisation through a range of different keys and modes.

None of what you linked fits that qualification. Essentially what I'm trying to do is have that death metal sound, and then go into a prolonged jam similar to Phish and the Grateful Dead.

There are 0 metal bands like this, mainly because (i feel) that metal is a genre that doesn't have flexibility. Yes there are many different subgenres of metal; but none of them allow flexibility of the material mainly because everyone has their specific parts they need to know to perform.

I file them from the side "root", to the point it sometimes hurts the skin, straight to the middle of the tip, then round the tip somewhat.

What you played 3 years ago isn't relevant because the firmware updates on the Axe-Fx makes it better and better as time goes on. "standard tuning" became a thing because tuning a guitar in fifths (how every other string instrument is tuned) is extremely uncomfortable when you're trying to play scales.

The guitar is therefore tuned in fourths to make scale playing easier.
>>
>>70391265
Not the same bro. Nothing beats the feeling of using a real tube amp. Which makes you play better. Which makes the record better. You don´t need that much amps neither to cover a lot of tones. A good high gain amp (EVH, Orange thunder/rocker verb, Mesas,...) a good Clean amp (any Fender) and a good Overdrive-Medium gain amp (Ac15, Tiny terror, mesas) is all you need. Or getting one that can nail all three (a mkV maybe??).

Yup, super unnecessary to have access to any kind of amp, cabinet and effect you want in a little black box that you can store presets on and recall them any time you want without having to remember if the bass knob was set at 4 or 5, being able to hook it up to your PC via USB to record stuff, being able to use it with headphones, bedroom levels without having to push the master volume to get a usable sound like on a real amp or connect it to an amp or cabinet. Modelling amps are okay if you don´t have a well defined tone for you musical project/group etc. If you have you tone defined as fuck you don´t need more than at most 2 amps (most of the time only one) and it is going to sound beetter than the simulation. Sorry but as amazing as those plug ins are they still don´t beat the real thing. Are you a bland mothafucka who doesnt know how it wants to sound???? stick to your goddamn simulators.

That's why i said "everyone always forgets the last part". If everyone in your family forgets to wipe their ass, it doesn't make it right.

Cant be guitar master and midget master if you're only a master of one. Better to be a jack of midgets AND guitar

you just admitted modelers are fake amps. you you just lost the argument because even you had to make a distinction between the two

not the correct phrasing, just because some butthurt jack of all trades added that last part doesn't make it right.

Yeah well, you can't claim you're the best cook then. Tube amps are master tube toans, modeling amps are like jack of all. That's my original point. You want tube sound, need tube amp to make best sound. Want all around, get the modeling amp. But dont go saying the tube sound is the best from it.

You can't even comprehend what you yourself pasted. You're a fucking retard and you'll always be a fucking retard. I'm actually impressed you're able to use the copy/paste functions of a computer. Go fuck your moronic self, you're beyond all hope of learning anything at all.
