I had a Memphis copy Les Paul back in 2006, It was beat up and I didn't know the value so I gave it to my friend. detune your strings until they are flopping like crazy, and then pop them like Stanley Clarke 20-30 times each string.

after that, get a shirt or microfiber cloth, soak it with high % alcohol or acetone, and rub down each string. dry, then tune up again and you're good to go
