What's your favourite emotionally manipulative song?
Johnny Cash - Hurt

Black by Pearl Jam, the MTV unplugged version. Never really had a relationship but Vedder's vocals make me cry like a bitch every time I listen to it.
Also Bronte by Gotye - reminds me of my dead dog. Unlike Black, I stay the fuck away from this song because I have a nervous breakdown everytime I hear it.
I honestly didn't know emotionally manipulative songs were a thing.

Of course they are. Songs that use the right chords and right lyrics to make you feel something. It's been around since classical music.

What's manipulative about them though?
>>70375138
Yeah but then there are also songs that by themselves are not really anything special but you get attatched to them because of someone/something in your life that happened or was happening at the time you discovered the song.

They're manipulating you into feeling something against your will.
