There are so many guitar generals, but no piano/synth generals?
Not too many links, post more in the replies.

I sometimes create a /keys/ - Keyboard Instruments General, but it goes down fast.
>>70365974
Post the links you usually post in the /keys/ general.
>>70366031
The general didn't have links, as I was expecting them to show up as discussions progressed, but they never did.
>>70366058
kek
That's kind of sad, actually. I'll look for some links to post.
>>70366078
Yup. That kind of thing works best when an organic consensus forms around useful references, but if we wait that'll never happen, kek.
What books do you recommend for sight reading?

Yeah, C C Chang's book is top notch. I rec it often.
there are no drum generals either
or brass/woodwind generals either
part of the reason guitar generals (and by extension guitar culture) are so popular is because there's a greater variety of them and people have an affinity for collecting them
more difficult to collect grand pianos lol
>>70366280
There are some synth collectors, though.
>>70366308
yeah but they're typically nerds, geeks, and dweebs
>>70366349
We can't be choosy here.
>>70366308
Synths also usually have a grand piano setting, and they aren't too expensive.

>There are so many guitar generals, but no piano/synth generals?
Because synths are covered in /prod/ and piano is usually discussed in classical or composition generals.

What's the best bet for a good upright for less than $1000?
I intended to specifically find a console, but the Wurlitzer spinet I tried sounded pure sex.

>Synthesia download
I would remove this, not only is it cheesey but it distracts you from learning actual piano
also if you get too used to it you'll develop bad habits on the piano
>>70367538
also, isn't chord chemistry a guitar book?
I never took any music classes in high school but I've been self teaching myself for a good year now. I asked my little brother who's a freshman about some things relating to music theory and he didn't know shit. I asked him if they do anything creative and from what I gather they just practice scales and play the sheet music. Is this the extent of high school band/orchestra or do they actually teach theory?
>>70368129
>also if you get too used to it you'll develop bad habits on the piano
please explain
>>70368430
just use your logic man
75% of your skills on the piano are getting your finger muscles attuned to the response of the keys, and working your way between chords and passages in a way that won't give you arthritis but allows you to be accurate and timely
instead you're training yourself to be used to a softly touching perfectly flat, tiny, minuscule keys on an unmoving piece of glass.
what could go wrong?
oh, and you're not even learning to read music.
that app is worse than useless.
