And what's this an album about traveling? Pretty cool! Wonder what he's gonna do next.

Good album! I heard while I was at a record store people talking about how Bowie "raps" on African Night Flight. They said he was probably getting into "hip hop" music or something like that. Is that a new music genre? Because I'd like to hear more stuff like it.

desu, I like the Bee Gees and for the most part, I enjoy most of their full albums. I enjoy Idea but it is pretty much Horizontal part 2. Life In A Tin Can gets shit on a lot, including To Whom It May Concern and Trafalgar (they consist of pretty much ballads, and only hardcore fans will enjoy them), but it is very country and folk-ish, and I dig it a lot.

Here's Saw A New Morning from Life in a Tin Can:

>>

>>
>>70308023
I can't really put out a strong argument cause it comes out to taste f.a.m.. I really like the country sound of Life In A Tin Can over the sound of Idea, but I still like Idea. It's just my personal opinion. I pretty much like the nostalgic/melancholic aspect of the Bee Gees' songwriting, they truly are underrated and eclipsed by their disco era sound.

The title track from Trafalgar is one of my top 5 Bee Gees' songs. Lion In Winter is also great.
>>
>>70307972
There are a couple of new ones out called Battle of the Panets and Star Blazers. They're pretty good desu. Maybe there is something to these Asian cartoons.
>>

>To Whom It May Concern
similar to Trafalgar, just more slower songs, but some playful tracks like Paper Mache, Cabbages & Kings. I love Sea of Smiling Faces though. You may like it.

>Life In A Tin Can
very country-folk. The songwriting aspect is not as good as their more famous songs. It's their shortest album at 29 minutes. I personally like it, and not cause I'm being hipster, I just like folk music.

>Mr. Natural
this is their transition album. It is very soulful and R&B. It is legitimately good and overlooked, but within the Bee Gees' fans, it is considered one of their best critical albums. The title track is awesome, and I like the track Voices.
>s/t
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mTAUmnK37rU
>Voices
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhHrNZWTWNg

>Main Course
everyone knows the Bee Gees for their disco sound. Tbh, I never considered the Bee Gees true disco, since they didn't have a drum machine nor were their lyrics about dancing (except for Saturday Night Fever). Main Course is actually good despite it being their album that returned them to the charts. Nights on Broadway is great. The second half of the album returns to their country sound, with two beautiful ballads sung by Robin.

>Children of the World
Imho, their only "true" disco album. You Should Be Dancing is good, but I don't really enjoy the album. You may skip it.

>Spirits Having Flown
this is pretty much falsetto-led. If you can get past it, there are some gems like the title track (linked ITT) and a few other songs. I think it lives up to the hype.

>Living Eyes
listen to it. Kind of 80s-ish with some synth, but the same Bee Gees rock/pop sound. Their songwriting is top notch. Wildflower is sung by Maurice, but despite the creepy lyrics (old man who wants to date a young girl), it's one of my favorite songs.

>ESP
First half of the album is good contemporary 80s music. Second half is bad.

>One
Overall good album. It feels very 80s with some strong tracks.

(I was originally only gonna go up to To Whom but I MAY explore more out of curiosity)
>>
>>70308454
>High Civilization
some alright tracks but not a good album in general. Skip it.

>Size Isn't Everything
Much better than HC, and some strong tracks like For Whom The Bell Tolls. Worth a listen

>Still Waters
Good strong album, very adult contemporary. Two bonus tracks that were released in Japan, Rings Around the Moon and Love Never Dies are worth a listen.

>This Is Where I Came In
this album has a lot of solo tracks by each brother. Some good tracks and some meh ones. Kinda comfy. This is obviously their final one.

I have a feeling this band will go down as one of the greatest of all time and will still be releasing music in the 2000s, with a decorated career that peaks in the 80s, but they have a great comeback album in 1995 and 2007

I started with Bee Gees Their Greatest Hits: The Record. It gave me a bit of a starting point as it gave me a taste of their music throughout their career. I decided to check out their albums chronologically (Bee Gees: The Studio Albums had only been released). The more I listened the more I loved their music. Sold out, somewhat and yes kind of, but like I said in one of my posts, Main Course and Spirits still have that Bee Gees' spirit of the vocal harmonies, the strong songwriting, and a melancholic sound. What I liked about their music is that in bad times, they made me feel good, and in the good times, it made me feel better.

I just got to New York City after passing through the time warp about 2 weeks ago. So I've been in 1979 for 3 weeks total. It's January 21st. It rained today... a lot.

I saw the same qt at the diner on 42nd Street today. Still haven't talked to her. Should I? This rain is making me think so.

I've been practicing playing on the piano at the mall down the street. I really like the sound of "Em Cm A". It's other-worldly yet personal.

I hate disco so much and everything it stands for! Blondie went disco The Grateful Dead went Disco Kiss went disco even Rod Stewart went disco. I'd love to gather everybody who hates disco as much as I do hold a big anti-disco rally and blow up disco records. I don't care what race you are or if you're straight or gay. Just as long as you hate disco as much as I do just bring a disco record to be blown up. That's all! I don't think anybody would pay attention or even care though.

>> 70308069
What are you talking about?
There's a film called Buck Rogers in the 25th Century but there's no Queen music on the soundtrack.
Queen however did just release their first live album called Live Killers and if you love Queen as much as I do and have never seen them live this album is a must have!

>>70313560
Wouldn't that be great if he came out of retirement and started making music and putting out albums again? Even better if The Beatles had a reunion. If any band could get the bad taste of disco out of people's mouths and destroy disco for once and for all it would be John Lennon and The Beatles. I just know it!

Love The Jam.
I don't care if they get dismissed as Who imitators or Mod revivalists. Their last album All Mod Cons tried to break away from that image and I think Setting Sons is pure genius. I just hope they don't all turn into soul boys and start putting out Motown style R&B even if that IS the logical next step for a mod band.

There are those who say this is now the only band that matters and I'm inclined to agree.

I can listen to this record from start to finish and not skip any songs.

I heard a rumor that they'll finally be releasing their original first album in the U.S. soon. I hope it will be the same is it is in England. I'd hate to think that they would delete songs and replace them with other songs thus forcing me to by the import and domestic versions at the same time.
