Bought a near mint condition original pressing of this album recently at goodwill for 50 cents. I overpaid.

Why you people obsess over this album eludes me. It's trash.
>>
>>70304843
I hope you're kidding
>>
>>70304896
I'm not.
>>
>>70304843
That's funny because I was going through my mom's records and I saw this cover and I didn't know what it was and my mom was making fun of me and said I probably couldn't use a turntable either so I went with it and pretended not to know and put it in the microwave and chanted the chorus in a retard voice and it blew up and she slapped me lol
>>
>>70304910
I don't even know where to begin. The drums fills, the bass playing, the guitar playing, the textures, its great.
>>
>>70305022
No I realize the musicians are highly skilled, but the music sucks. It sounds like you mixed blended 2112 with Paranoid.
>>
>>70305083
its not the skill. The drum fills are satisfying, the bass playing it so energetic
the first song is the only one that fits your description
>>
>>70305136
See I disagree. The softer songs on side 2 are just so ludicrously paced that I end up thinking "come on I get it now wrap it up", while gesticulating it like an Italian. On top of that, the lyrics on their songs (that actually have them) are repetitive and not nearly as creative as their playing. It's jarring.

I literally overpaid by 25 cents on a 50 cent record.
>>
I used to lie about being done my homework then drink with my dad to this record. Now I'm a model. Thanks Robert Fripp!

and yes, I'm not joking.

>pic related is the disk of shit
>>
Epitaph is the only song I really like. I guess their later albums are less jammy and more song oriented, maybe I'll listen to one some day.
>>
>>70305198
Fair enough. I like its repetitiveness, how it saunters along like that...I also don't pay attention to lyrics as I listen to music in general, as long as they don't get in the way, I'm fine. I think the lyrics are just fine, I don't think they're too sparse but whatever, but it does have somewhat dated and overly-serious vocals. Moonchild is definitely too long. You're opinion doesn't offend me until you claim you overpaid for a 50 cent record, especially one you can sell for like 10 bucks
REEEEEEEE
>>
>>70305290
>(not like primus)
kek
>>
>>70305339
Actually I got it 50 cents (my local gw has half priced records on sundays, they usually sell all records for $1)... it is an original pressing from the UK according to the matrix info. They are listed for sale between $47 and $2100 depending on condition. Of course the highest one has ever sold for on discog was $370, and the lowest one has ever sold for on the site was $53.

This is why I'm conflicted. I could sell it for a nice profit and fund like another 20 albums... but it may be worth substantially more someday.. and I may want to keep it in my collection.
>>
>>70305493
>it's literally impossible to dislike Court of the Eternal Virgin
It's like, my opinion bro.
>>
>>70304963
lol
>>
I love this album, and the crim in general. I agree it's dated, especially the vocals, but to me it sounds the way Michael Whelan's book covers look...like a trippy window into a past generation's idea of the future. I make shit money as a chef and would gladly throw down half a paycheque for what OP picked up for 50 cents :P

This album is fucking awful. Yesterday someone threw a burrito on my windshield and I thought "Hey is King Crimson playing this town"?
>>
>>70306049
Well it was?
>>
Honestly this is a great album but it feels average compared to Red and Poseidon
>>
>>70304758
More like shorten it to 2 and a half minutes.

>>70304843
I bought an original pressing from the UK for $100, and I don't even own a fucking record player yet.

You can go fuck yourself anon, it's objectively the greatest album of all time.
>>
>>70307626
>it's objectively the greatest album of all time.
First it is impossible for you to claim this. In the Library of Congress's catalog, there is over 64800000 minutes of music. That is over 123 years of sound. The oldest living person is 117 years old. Even if their mother shoved a speaker into her uterus before birth that's only 117.75 years of potential listening.
>>
>>70307979
Second, the best album ever recorded is clearly News of the World.

The rusted chains of prison moons
Are shattered by the sun
I walk a road, horizons change
The tournament's begun
The purple piper plays his tune
The choir softly sing
Three lullabies in an ancient tongue
For the court of the crimson king
>>
>>70308807
lol I fucking hate KC lyrics
>>
>>70308807
Nice cherry picking, I can do it too.

Confusion will be my epitaph.
As I crawl a cracked and broken path
If we make it we can all sit back and laugh.
But I fear tomorrow I'll be crying,
Yes I fear tomorrow I'll be crying.
Yes I fear tomorrow I'll be crying
Crying..
Crying...
Yes I fear tomorrow I'll be crying
Yes I fear tomorrow I'll be crying
Yes I fear tomorrow I'll be crying
Crying...
>>
>>70308844

CONFUSION....WILL BE MY EPITAPH
>>
>>70308866
>implying these are bad lyrics

Right before this:
The wall on which the prophets wrote
Is cracking at the seams
Upon the instruments of death
The sunlight brightly gleams
When every man is torn apart
With nightmares and with dreams,
Will no one lay the laurel wreath
When silence drowns the screams

If you don't like King Crimson you're an idiot. It's literally as simple as that.

>>
>>70309032
What kind of drywall zoo do you live in? Have you ever seen a brick?
>>
>>70308866
It wasn't even fucking cherry picking. The entire title track has lyrics like the few lines I posted. Besides, attacking that verse of Epitath is like attacking I Just Wasn't Made For These Times by The Beach Boys
Sometimes I feel very sad
Sometimes I feel very sad
Sometimes I feel very sad
If you attack that shit for being repetitive you don't get it, there's a reason for it to repeat. There's meaning in it repeating. The speaker can't think to say anything else because he or she is so filled with that emotion that these lines are all they can articulate. Either way, your example is more cherry picking than mine as that repeating or "uninspired" lyrics is so much less frequent than the complex, deep (hate that word) lyrics that to say that "Yes I fear tomorrow I'll be crying" repeated over and over again is representative of King Crimson's output as a whole lyrically then you're just fucking wrong. I could cite more examples of amazing King Crimson lyrics but you'd call it cherry picking once again. Keep in mind that it's a logical fallacy in its self to call someone out on a logical fallacy then not refute their argument based on the fact that the opponent committed a logical fallacy.

brick walls don't have seams either

Well, Fripp himself took 2:30 out of the Illusion part when remastering with Steven Wilson in 2009 (source: Wikipedia), so perhaps it is a bit overlong.
>>
>>70304758
Good Idea, the sng only really gets good when they start the ambient interlude. It's really for the best to chop out that overly long pop bit leading up to it.
