numbers don't lie. If you could set up a worldwide vote right now, more people have memories attached to "Don't Worry Baby" or even "Kokomo" than something like Cabin Essence or Fire

Not saying the artsy shit isn't good, but what the Beach Boys are known/remembered for is the classic sound that got them famous in the first place

If Mike Love booked a Beach Boys concert in your hometown and the band he assembled played Smiley Smile or Pet Sounds in its entirety, the majority of the attendees would leave pissed off that they didn't play any of their good shit

more people know God Only Knows and Good Vibrations, but regardless, any attachment or enjoyment people got from Kokomo and what not was superficial at best, it was a commodity to be used and thrown away later, and therefore made no lasting impact to anyone.
