All music is weed music. Honestly reggae is boring while stoned, i'd rather listen to psych, prog, electronic, anything.
...uh fucking yea there is. The wailers are one of the great groove/pocket bands of all time. Aston family man Barrett is too heavy man. Probably one of the most creative electric bassists of all time. Dont fall for the weed music meme, its a serious music with its own essential records that are worth listening too.

Try Toots and the Maytals. That's about as good as reggae/ska gets.

There is a lot of history in the early reggae that blossomed out of ska. Jamaica had just gained their independence from Britain in 1962. A lot of the 'One Love/Get up, Stand Up' kind of tunes are coming straight out of people who were fighting for control of their destiny. A lot of the religious lyrics are also political. The music was powerful enough that gov't spooks tried to assassinate Bob Marley. Somebody did shoot and kill his long time collaborator, Peter Tosh. There's a pretty good documentary about Peter called, The Red X Tapes: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL0UxLbS8Q63w1edoJqgID5qOR49WdVvnf

I don't give a shit about reggae it always seemed the most limited genre ever to me (I'd love to be proved wrong), but Lee Scratch Perry is fantastic, despite being on the dub/ambient dub side of things.
