Hey Ira.
You're a huge inspiration for me in terms of songwriting and guitar playing. As a lyricist you're amazing at capturing the fuzzy feeling of new love. As a guitarist I admire how you can so efortlessy transition between the noisiest sounds and regular playing - I'm trying to do that too. I wish you and Georgia well for the coming year, and I hope I'll get to see you guys soon.

Best Yo La Tengo album? I'd go for Painful. Also any other bands like them?

And Then Nothing is their best. Its their most atmospheric and cohesive, which are qualities I look for in an album. Second's I Can Hear The Heart, since it's their greatest collection of songs. Much cozier than the other records too.
Third's Painful. Not much to say about it, and really not that special compared to the two top spots.

I wish someone would put more of your music in the archives so I can illegally download it.

Happy birthday Ira I hope you get another ProCo RAT
Ira is probably my biggest musical inspiration. He's 60 now and still kicks so much ass. I can only wish to be even half as amazing as he is someday.
Hard to believe he's 60

Yo la Tengo are quite eclectic in their sound so it's hard to say any one band sounds just like them, but Stereolab definitely cover similar ground at times.

Second for Stereolab.
and everyone should check out the solo stuff from James McNew, Dump, if you haven't already.
