They're actually really unique, as far as the Nicks/Buckingham era. Music more comparative to them didn't really start getting made until the late 00s and the 10s.

There's your comfy 70s hippie folk-rock and singer-songwriter stuff, like CSNY, Joni, etc, or psychfolk, but there's also a pop side to Fleetwood Mac as well as a wispy ethereal side that you don't have in quite the same way with other 70s or even 60s bands/artists.

I'd kind of associate them with the vibe-ier end of yacht rock 70s stuff maybe. Or even the kind of sexy vibey beach hippie parents vibe of 80s balearic. Similar vibe and atmosphere somewhat, if less woodsy (look up mixes on youtube).

In that way you might kind of compare them - in certain aspects - with Kate Bush, not in sound but as far as the ethereal woman thing, as well as maybe dreampop like Cocteau Twins, which is a very different sound but has that combination of pop with dreamy atmospherics and otherworldly feminine energy.

But then in the 00s you get like Vetiver who are obviously influenced by them, and Fleet Foxes and other atmospheric campfire beardfolk.

Also, Crystal Castles and stuff like that, somewhat. And Purity Ring.

And then also the kind of dad rock / radio pop combined with vibes / atmosphere like Ariel Pink, and then stuff like Zola Jesus, Sleep Over, Clams Casino, Balam Acab, Salem, Holy Other, LA Vampires, Maria Minerva, Grimes, Julia Holter, Grouper, etc etc etc.

Also in pop, HAIM, obviously. I think that kind of vibey post-dadrock/yacht sound with a kind of balearic vibe has also seeped into a lot of mainstream pop from everything to Taylor Swift (Style) to The 1979.

They've turned out to be a massive influence, much later on. They were well loved before but were kind of brushed aside as MOR/AOR parent music by young people for a long time, and then it clicked around the time of free folk > cosmic > chillwave > witchhouse > etc.

Crystal Castles
Kate Bush

love them

wow ty for posting

>HAIM
While the Fleetwood Mac influence is definitely there, I'd say they sound closer to Michael Jackson than they do to Fleetwood Mac

Some other obscure bands you won't have heard of but might like: The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, and The Rolling Stones

A lot of people kind of overlook them at first though. They're kind of something you sometimes notice are brilliant a little later on.
>>
>>70173265
ive literally never listened to an album from ANY of the rockist bands you mentioned

These are a little more popular songs by them but really nice. I don't know why, their love songs are relaxing to listen to.

You aren't missing much
The Rolling Stones have a few really good songs though
Have a listen to the original Peter Green Fleetwood Mac. I'ts much different but there's way more good tunes. Stevie Nicks era only had a handful of good stuff

Tusk was fucking awesome. FM should have let Lindsey run the show, Mirage and Tango in the Night would have been a lot better.
