better than now yea

Early 2010s probably had the most catchy and ""interesting"" pop music, but remember that that's not setting the bar that high as far as quality goes.
1947 desu
late 2000s were desu
60s obvs the apex of pop music (motown and beach boys, just to get started)
singer-songwriter-countryish mid-70s stuff was a pretty good era
so was early 80s cyndi lauper/madonna/shannon/cars/B52s new wave/dance era
but 2010s were obvs better than the 00s
>>70143954
examples? besides Timbaland and Kanye
>>70143955
I think he's talking about pop music in its current vein, in the more modern style that's more "poppy" for lack of a better word.

APPLE BOTTOM JEANS
BOOTS WITH THE FUR
>>70143954
nah son. the '00s as a whole was a shit decade for pop music.
50s and 60s pop is the best pop. 80s is a runner-up.
80s. I love synthpop.
>>70143985
Animal Collective and Ariel Pink made great pop in the late 00's and early 10's.
>>70143754
Call me maybe is GOAT
Okay /mu/, was there any good pop in 2016?
And don't say that Kero Kero Benito shit.

Side B
>>70144701
Drugdealer, AnCo, R. Stevie Moore all had pretty fun releases
>>70143754
I've got major nostalgia for those first two tracks but also Foster the People. Brings me back to the freshman year of highschool when I started using 4chan and played TF2 all night on my shitty laptop.
>>70143754
as far as the relatively recent past is concerned, sure, but the mid to late 60s was really the golden era of pop music
>>70143898
fucking this. 40s had class and they knew how to actually write music with interesting chords and modulation

>class
don't make me post it

60s (little into 70s)
Country was at its best probably, crossover pop with Nashville Sound, Cash, Parton, Loretta Lynn, Tammy Wynette, Jerry Lee Lewis.
Motown and Beach Boys like listed. British Invasion bands, Monkees, Beatles, Roy Orbison, Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen.
Away from pop, there was TVU, Hendrix, Kingsmen, garage rock bands started emerging, Rolling Stones, the Byrds, King Crimson, Lynyrd Skynyrd, ZZ Top.
Seriously much during this time.
>>70145527
All of those bands "away from pop" are pop. TVU is pop music sans Sister Ray.
>>70143754
>People are already fucking nostalgic for the 2010s
Jesus Christ. Gangnam Style is still pretty fun though.
>>70144204
I could've gone the entire rest of my life without remembering that garbage. You're the worst.
