If you were to make a retrospective of Bowie's career in just 15 albums, which ones would you pick?

1. Man Who Sold The World
2. Hunky Dory
3. Ziggy Stardust
4. Aladdin Sane
5. Diamond Dogs
6. Young Americans
7. Station to Station
8. Low
9. "Heroes"
10. Lodger
11. Scary Monsters
12. Let's Dance
13. 1.Outside
14. Heathen
15. Black Star

1.Outside
Earthling
Heathen
Black Star
>>
>>70113928
>Black Tie White Noise
I'm genuinely offended that this would make anyone's top 15
>>
Is it wrong of me to call myself a Bowie fan even if I've only heard about 8 of his albums?
>>
>>70115067
As in "I've heard an estimate of 8 of his albums", not "There are only 8 albums of his that I've heard about"
>>
1. Station to Station
2. Low
3. Lodger
4. Blackstar
>>
>>70115067
I say I'm a Bowie fan all the time yet I've listened only to these >>70115094
>>
>>70115119
Ya gotta at least listen to Ziggy Stardust, that's quintessential Bowie
>>
I'm nearly finished listening to all his albums and that's depressing
>>
>>70113928

This but replace BTWN with Outside.
>>
Ah, but how would you rank those?

Blackstar > Outside > Low > Station to Station > Ziggy > the rest >> Heathen > Let's Dance
>>
so it's safe to say 4 years on that no-one actually liked the next day, it was all bullshit 'le return to form' hype?

as long as we can all admit that and move on that's okay. hell, he even went on to release a genuinely good album afterwards!
>>
>>70116305
>>70114948
Why the fuck does everyone hate BTWN so much?
God damn it wasn't that bad guys. It was a sweet album. Jump They Say is one of the first songs I ever heard from him.
>>
>>70116584
this tbqh, I only care for 1 or 2 songs on the next day
>>

10. Lodger
11. Hunky Dory
12. Man who Sold the World
13. Young Americans
14. Heathen
15. The Next Day
>>
>>70116584
It wasn't bad, just boring and forgettable. I'd say it's on par with his 2000's stuff, maybe slightly less.
>>
>>70116628

I don't hate it! Jump They Say is one of his best songs. I just prefer Outside. I'm >>70116305 by the way.
>>
>>70117692
Fair enough. I guess I was referring more to the other anon.
>>
>>70116584
The Next Day wasn't a 'return to form' album, it was a 'return' album. it had been a decade since he released Reality and all signs pointed to his being done with music. I dig the album but wouldn't put it among his best.
>>
I never liked anything from Bowie EXCEPT for Blackstar. Blackstar is fucking great and I love it and the rest of his discography and go straight to hell. Except for this one song, Love is Lost, but only the remix by James Murphy. The ten minute one, not the abridged four minute version.
>>
What do if you only enjoy Bowie's pop songs? I mean stuff like Cracked Actor and Let's Dance are the only Bowie songs I can enjoy desu
>>
>>70117744
>and the rest of his discography and go straight to hell
You and I both know that's a little extreme.
>>
>>70117744
if you only like one bowie album you cant be considered a fan. gtfo this thread pl0x
>>
>>70118203
>thinking being a fan is a badge of honour

Have you considered treating your terminal mental retardation through suicide?

If you're asking for what 15 albums would best describe the history of his career, it'd be

1: The Man Who Sold The World
2: Hunky Dory
3: Ziggy Stardust
4: Diamond Dogs
5: Young Americans
6: Station to Station
7: Low
8: "Heroes"
9: Scary Monsters
10: Let's Dance
11: Never Let Me Down
12: Tin Machine
13: 1.Outside
14: Earthling
15: Blackstar

Not a list of my favourites, those are just the albums of his that I feel shaped and best show the ups and downs throughout the history of his career

Pic related's the favourites list
>>
>>70119559

>>
>>70120132

>>
>>70116424
> >>Heathen > Let's Dance
b-b-but i think those two are great albums
>>
>>70116584
i like a lot of the tracks on it, but i don't feel like it flows as well as many many of his other albums
>>
better yet, let's rank his (sort of) unofficial releases. let's say these are less well-known to Bowie casuals than the usual lot.

Buddha of Suburbia
Toy
The Gouster
Cat People (original)
The Leon Suites
Lazarus (cast recording)
Peter and the Wolf
Baal
Tin Machine
>>
1. Anthology 1966-68
2. Man Who Sold The World
3. Hunky Dory
4. Live Santa Monica 72'
5 Aladdin Sane
6. Diamond Dogs
7. The Gouster
8. Staton to Station
9. Low
10. Heroes
11. Lodger
12. Platinum Collection Best of 1980-87
13. 1.Outside
14. Heathen
15. Black Star
>>
Can we include live albums?
>>
>>70123277
no
>>
>>70117796
Most his songs are POP songs. If you just want the poppy stuff you still have a huge list of songs you'd like.
>>
>>70116628
I love BTWN. It's got so many feel-good songs on it.

https://youtu.be/ZLS3HLEEiWw
>>
>>70125174
Finally! Someone else who loves the album!
>>
>>70125198
Admittedly it took me a while to warm up to it, but now it's my go-to album whenever I feel down.
>>
>>70113841
How would you rank the songs tho?
Top 15
