Not a swan song, a song by swans. Just to clarify for the autists. Mine is helpless child, love that long ending with the soaring organ, so fucking orgasmic.

You Are Nothing from the bunny one is pretty good

Feel Happiness and the live version of The Sound.

Helpless Child is probably their best studio recording though. I just wish they added Ligeti's Breath to it, just like on the German version.
>>
Probably "Hurt" by Johnny Cash

The Sound or the live version of Coward on Not Here/Not Now. It hits you every time
>>
>>70111653
Not Here/Not Now was so good. The Seer/Bring The Sun/Toussaint was killer. Too bad the recording quality was absolutely shit.
>>
>>70111653
My nigga, that is a fantastic recording.

I wish they re-did more old stuff live in the style of nu-Swans.

if it isn't off one of the first three albums, you either haven't heard them or you're death. i can't even choose an album let alone a song, but it'd probably be something off Cop or Public Castration is a Good Idea live album
>>
Early Swans is the weirdest kind of catchy
>>
>>70111745
but post-rock sounds better than noise rock

If my favourite song its ''Song for a Warrior'' means that i am a pleb?
>>
well... well fuck... i mean
>>
>>70111834
if the production was more grimier then maybe to me yeah. the thing that most appeals to me about swans and many other related bands is the lofi approach, with a clean sound it just loses everything to me. i think it's boring
>>
Helpless Child is my favorite, what an experience it is listening to that. That, or maybe the live version of Blood Promise.

>>70111834
why not mix the two? Then you get the best of both worlds
>>
I absolutely love "All Lined Up" for its atmosphere and explosiveness and "Power for Power" for its fast unstoppable sludge but they're not really my favourites per se. "Volcano" and "Yum-Yab Killers" stand out in Soundtracks and they're both great. Original era Swans has some great shit throughout, some of my favourite music ever.
>>
>>70111834
I've never thought of early Swans as noise rock at all. It's too rhythmic.
>>
>>70111867
The live albums would be perfect for you then.
>>
>>70111834
Shut the fuck up retard
le crescendos are fucking terrible and I'd literally rather be gangbanged by every current and former member of swans before I have to listen to neoswans shit

Swans best album is The Burning World

Well, aren't you a ray of sunshine? I personally like earlier and new swans equally, maybe earlier more. Filth and the old stuff is just better in its style. White Light Into the Mouth of Infinity is good too.
>>
>>70112135
also a great song, so off one of my favorite of their earlier records.

I couldn't give a ranked list but Stay Here is one of my favorite songs. It makes me feel feelings just from the sounds theyre making, which sounds like a simple requirement for music but it's rare that something does it with no effort. It just happens.

I also really like Giras solo album Drainland. You See Through Me and Fan Letter are great.

Yeah and I can't understand their label of post-punk. Swans is Swans, I hate when people are anal about genres
>>
>>70112024
New Swans is really cool, impressive composition.

Old Swans is a fucking experience that goes beyond putting on a record
>>
>>70112281
It's piss smells sour

What is it with him and piss
>>
>>70112847
>Gira
>Edgy

It's only edgy if it isn't genuine. Swans is just what he is. It helps if you know about him and his life.
>>
Failure, something about it just always evokes some type of sadness in me.
>>
i've been really stuck on "Time Is Money (Bastard)" lately but i also love "Volcano," "Blackmail," "Laugh," and "Beautiful Child." idk if i could just pick one
>>
>>70113137
I can't say I agree. While the instruments on Frankie M.'s studio version tops the live version, the vocals are nowhere near as good. I was so disappointed when I first listened to TGM.
