it's overpriced because it ISN'T mainstream you dingus
if it were mainstream they'd have more buyers and wouldn't have to have such a high markup to turn a profit
>>70055223
It wasn't in 2008 but now it definitely is.
>If nobody cares about it, its more expensive!
You don't seem to know how the market works my man
>>70054431
It isn't overpriced. It costs more because it costs significantly more to manufacture.

It wasn't until 2008, the labels have raised the price because people want it. You don't get the market

ffs don't talk about economics if you don't understand the basic principles behind it
it's a science not an ideology

A lot of it is overpriced. Random Access Memories originally released at $35. I remember seeing Blur's new album for $40. Most new releases hover around the $22-$28 range. There are indie labels that release records for $11-$13 and sound just as good, which shows that a lot of releases are overpriced.
Used prices have gone through the roof, but that's a different discussion.

2008 was about the time that the remaining pressing plants started feeling the pressure of increased production, and now they're in ridiculously high demand and many have a waiting list between six months and a year long.

I don't know how things work in burgerland, but over here you'll pay about £10 for a single CD and £20 for an LP (£30 for a double). Considering manufacturing costs, I think that's reasonable.
imso poor

Economics is def not an actual science. Honestly it is closer to an ideology senpai
And he's saying that an increase in demand with a statuc supply will increase the price, which even you must agree is true.
Cassettes are usually pretty cheap (unless it's a very rare/sought after tape) and can sound just as good if you have decent equipment.

>can sound just as good
No. Cassettes are not a medium capable of hi-fidelity.
