what's the appeal?

basically murrica: the artist

U gotta be working class dude then you'll understand the boss

>>
R.I.P sweet prince
>>
>>70030658
unironically this is a big part of it yea

but there's also that huge sense of isolation and wanderlust
>>
>>70030643
You have to be one of those ignorant cunts from Burgerland who believe all you gotta do to achieve your dreams is have a shit life but believe it'll get better

The reason Nebraska is his most embraced album by non-Springsteen fans is because it's the one where he accepts the American Dream is a lie
>>
>>70030643
His under-bite annoys me.
>>
>>70030699
but don't you want to believe that is true? otherwise what else are you doing? just die
>>
>>70030643
No idea, one of the most generic and boring dadrock/stadium rock artists.

>YEE HAW AMERICA LET ME SING YOU SOME STORIES ABOUT YOUNG WORKING CLASS FOLK IN A STRAINED VOICE DESPITE THE FACT THAT I'M TYPICAL LIBERAL MILLIONARE CELEB WHO SUPPORTS CLINTON AND SJW BS
>>
itt: plebs
>>
>>70030747
Springsteen was legit in the 70s, but by the BITUSA era, he was just a jetsetting millionaire who played stadiums and lost touch with real Americans.
>>
The guy's vocals and guitar skills are so limited that he needed some of the best backing musicians in the world to make himself sound remotely good.
>>
I bet all people in this
thread have at least 3 mu-core albums on their top favorite albums.
>>
>>70030747
Also he has a fake tax farm in NJ to get out of paying those huge Democrat taxes he loves so much.
>>
>>70030721
No, I live in a country where people are realistic and for that reason, it's much more habitable and a happier place to live than Burgerstan
>>
>>70030917
ie. some shithole where everyone moves to Germany/Sweden/France and lives on welfare
>>
>>70030831
Born In the USA is a great album despite being overtly commercial. But yeah he knew that album would really break him through the stratosphere and by that end of that tour he was playing huge stadiums worldwide. He was still a great live act for sure, but he did lose touch. He became a huge pop celebrity, moved to LA, married a model, etc.

He managed to crank out his last great album in the followup "Tunnel of Love", but fell off hard after that. Even the tour for that album was REALLY odd in that the setlist was always the same and the performances almost brooding and he was embroiled in tabloid coverage over his affair with band member Patty Scialfa cloud the tour throughout it's duration. In 1989, shortly after the tour ended, he dissolved the E Street band for good and I really don't think he was ever the same after that. He was just so far gone at that point that pre-BITUSA Bruce probably wouldn't even recognize him as being the same person.

No idea. He's up there with U2, REM, Blur, The Replacements, the Grateful Dead, etc. in terms of rock artists who are/were massively acclaimed and (except for the replacements) incredibly popular but have maybe 1 or 2 good songs in total, whose albums are exceedingly awful, live shows mediocre at best, and who haven't managed to be all that influential at all. Totally overrated.

>>
>>70031074
>U2
Early U2 was pretty damn good and they were a consistently engaging live act throughout much of their career
>REM
GOAT college rock band, pretty great major label alt rock group until the late 90s

>Blur
Haven't really listened that much, but they seem like a decent 90s brit-indie band with a couple acclaimed albums and several good singles outside that.

>The Replacements
GOAT

>The Grateful Dead
Overrated by the dadrock and stoner crowd sure, but their studio recordings fused standard "classic rock", psychadelia, folk, country, etc. into a unique sound and their live shows are something else entirely and massively influential.
>>
>>70030699
What are you talking about? All his albums Born to Run onwards embrace that fact.

I was born and raised there and I can confirm that there are a minimum five Springsteen songs at every wedding reception. Born to Run and Sherry Darling pretty much mandatory.

Intelligent
Stunning lyricism for being enjoyed by dummies
Fun, strong, confident instrumentation
Springsteen is based and I'll beat the shit out of anyone who disagrees right after I chug this PBR once this little league game is over

Springsteen? Real fans call him "Bruce".

Hey buddy. That was a trick. REAL fans call him "The Boss".

You're not a real fan! I have 563 CD and 463 cassette concert bootlegs in my house! I own copies of his studio albums on all formats: cassette, vinyl, 8 track, CD, remastered CD, MP3 for my phone, FLAC for my external "Boss" drive. Fucking poser.

Out of my way, I have a sporting event to attend.

Okay songs, but recording quality is awful. They must have lost the original masters years ago. Just feels like a label cash grab to me. They just through some random shit on there as "new material" because they didn't want to crank out the same greatest hits compilation for the umpteenth time.

I can't give any of his albums a 10 because they're inconsistent as balls. His best songs are amazing but there's always at least a couple of skippable tracks, except maybe on Nebraska.
