Anyone have good recommendations for a synth? I was thinking about picking up an KRONOS for my studio and an op-1 for making shit elsewhere

Roland Juno 106

The Roland Juno 60 is geat but expensive if its your first synth

Yeah, the i was thinking of forgoing the kronos and just sticking with the op-1, but I'll check out the Juno, I've heard great things about them

If you're going for a more "soundscaping" sound, it's pretty good. I know both Animal Collective and Oneohtrix Point Never have used it for their most popular albums.

Depends on what you want out of it.
seems like you want a workstation synth?

I definitely want something that can cover all of the bases without the need of a DAW.

For sound production, anyway.

yeah, then the kronos will probably be good.
I'd suggest going to a store and trying out all of the workstations in your price range. Roland and Yamaha have a couple. imo with romplers you want to make sure you are inspired by the pallet of sounds and how the sequencer works.
Why do so many people get poly and mono synths? Is it just because the monos generally have more options (but for one note)?
lol fuckin OP getting an OP-1 and not a VL-1 like a true patrician would, fucking terrible
