The missing link between Springsteen, The Replacements, and the alt-country sound of Uncle Tupelo, Wilco, et al.
Anybody who can write a song like Copperhead Road or The Ballad of Johnny Walker Lindh is cool with me.

I got a two pack habit and a motel tan, you tell me?
I've literally only ever head Copperhead Road (the song, not the whole album) but it's enough for me to say yes
>Steve Earle thread
>On /mu/
Hell yeah. The first half of Copperhead Road is 10/10

The bluegrass album with the Del McCoury Band was great also.

Honestly haven’t listen to much of his work past the mid-90s, other than some of his most recent stuff. I’ll have to check it out.
On a side note: his son, Justin Townes Earle, is also a very talented musician. Has made some of my favorite alternative country of the past couple years

but the second half is garbage
