It's a really solid album with a handful of really dope beats. Lyrically it covers the same ground as every other Danny Brown release and isn't innovative whatsoever. Still, a good rap album is a good rap album. 8 out of 10, and rap AOTY.

Guy you responded to here. His lyricism isn't horrible by any means, he slightly above average in that department. His biggest strength outside of curating beats is his voice and his energy, that may sound corny on the surface but that's a big thing for a rapper in a sea filled with monotonous mumblers Danny has an easily identifiable and energizing delivery, as well as some versatility to change between voices. Still though, nothing about his lyrics, his delivery, themes, or story telling is next-level or remotely post anything. He's a good rapper that's friends with Fantano and his newest album was shilled into oblivion.

I listened to the album, and by the way you virgins are talking about it, it sounds like you haven't. It's on spotify, so its easy to find. desu it just doesn't connect like xxx did and the instrumentation isn't really that groundbreaking or any of what you guys have been saying. I think a healthy portion of people on mu think it's a good album. It's my favorite rap album of the year, but threads like this coupled with the whole post-rap claims (brought on even by Danny himself with his prig-hop tweet) and Fantano's insincere shilling or delusional, biased hyperbole is really annoying and creating backlash.

I can't argue with anyone having this as their end of the year favorite. It was one of my top albums this year (feel free to call me out on my shit taste). But anyone that seriously thinks this is post-rap or revolutionary either hasn't listened to much rap, are parroting Fantano, or lying.
