Robin Guthrie's guitar tone is much more varied than Alex Scally's, but even when playing clean electric he still usually drowns his guitar in chorus. Live drums and bass guitar to boot, Liz sits in the higher register of her voice much more and multitracked vocals are a common focal point of most Cocteau Twins songs whereas most Beach House songs usually only feature one higher-mixed vocal track

While it's obvious your argument doesn't actually extend past "hurr durr they both have """dreamy""" guitar and female vocal" I'd be interested to see what examples you guys can come up with

Devotion smacks of having heard Vampire Weekend's first record in advance and as a response basically trying to one-up but ending up with the same situation as Contra but less flattering... Contra's problem is track order, Devotion's is that compounded with artistic compromise for marketability.
