Why is melodic rap so bad?

Art music and jazz are pretty good though, and they are based on complex melodic work often. So is in a way most folk stuff I listen to. Most of my more electronic stuff isn't melodic, but has a variety of timbres and rhythms thought to make up for it.

It's because harmony and melody are seen as feminine and soft whereas atonality and abrasive sounds are seen as masculine. This board is mainly used by 15-16 yo boys, most of whom are not athletic or particularly macho so they are very insecure with their masculinity thus their brains tend to be satisfied by the more abrasive nature of music like Swans.

Nearly everyone here listens to music with melodies. "Melodic", as an adjective, is just used for sounding either like top 40 pop or shitty alt rock, especially in the case of metal.
