I haven't really kept up with the releases this year, watched the Fantano list, downloaded AE and I had the turn it off halfway because it was so shit.
Last year I mostly agreed with Fantano's taste but that album was really shit.

i usually watch his reviews, though i wouldn't call myself a fantanofag by any means. sometimes i agree with him and sometimes i don't, i just enjoy discussing/listenting to people's opinions on music that i enjoy. same reason i come here really

Blackstar, the lead single from the album of the same name, was released 15th November, 2015. The album dropped January 8th, 2016.

I can see why Fantano said it was #30 in 2015, and #1 in 2016. The Top 50 singles of 2015 was made in 2015, before he died and anyone gave two shits about it.

Once he had died, the song & the record took on greater importance, in 2016, which is a new year.

What was lazy on his behalf was including Hannah Diamond's "Hi" in both 2015 and 2016. He did it to one other song I think, as well.

But going back to the heart of the matter, for Fantano haters this was simply more reason for them to justify saying that

DESU, if you hate Fantano it's probably better that you consider his views from time to time, because as we all know, living in a bubble world that never challenges your perspective = close minded. It's about the worst thing you can do to yourself, if you truly love music.

Speaking for myself, I think Fantano's bias shows in many reviews, esp. his overall ambivalence (or outright hostility) towards EDM & its subgenres. But I never get my nuts in a twist like some of y'all.

You have completely static opinions? An artist doesn't have to die for something like this happen. I liked Spoon by Can the first time I heard it, enough to listen to it multiple times. Year later I revisit it and it becomes one of my favorite tracks ever. Now did I even consider it part of top 100 that first time? Nope.
