i have an interesting love hate relationship with them
theyve been one of my favorite bands since i was a kid because some of their albums (particularly the first 5, relayer, tormato, drama, their 80s stuff, and going for the one) are some of my favorite albums of all time. but theyve put out some really, really shit albums (union, tales, anything billy sherwood is a part of except the ladder, etc). and they treat their members like shit--theyre a high school clique that's gone on too long.
Yes is one of my favorite bands. Great stuff, including the 80s stuff with Trevor Rabin, which a lot of Yesfans despise because of how commecial they became, but 90125 was good, even the forgotten Talk album in the 90s is a good listen if you like prog with a more rock sound
I sometimes try to listen to post-Tormato stuff but it's really hard, the only album I enjoy is Magnification. What was it about the 80s that hit bands so hard?

go listen to Drama
It doesnt have jon Anderson singing, but its a fucking awesome album
i cant believe it came out in the 70s

Early stuff is good. I don't need to go ahead and list why Close to the Edge/Tales from Topographic Oceans/Fragile are good since there are entire forums of 60 year old men from English midlands masturbating over why those 3 are the best prog albums ever.
Most of their stuff after they turn more commercial is crap though.
I GET UUUUUUP

All you need are the albums from The Yes Album up to and including Relayer. I personally dont care for the rest.
