This pretty much. Avey writes 80 percent of Animal Collective's material and everyone else elaborates on the ideas. He comes up with the framework generally though.

Avey is a better song writer than any of them as well. Panda can make great tracks, but his arrangements are weak in comparison to the songs Avey writes.
