Also Willie Nelson is underrated here.
I think he's reached that age where people just take him for granted and assume that he'll always keep delivering decent to great albums but that's just how it goes I guess.

I'm honestly not really well-versed in alt country, The Builders & The Butchers just happen to be a band that I really like.
You might also try Kim Logan, Unknown Hinson, and Sturgill Simpson (I think Sturgill is fairly well known around here).
