It's "cool and different music" that accomplishes absolutely nothing or has any outstanding qualities that count get across anything or possibly offend anybody. It's music for people that want to be cool and interesting but are too boring, lazy and cowardly to do it in any descript way than the lamest and most inoffensive way possible.

It's "psychedelic" rock, which is to say Foo Fighters with reverb.

I'm not saying they're a bad band, they're just reddit incarnate.

A similar example is Run The Jewels. "Rowdy and bombastic music" where the only lyrics are "we're so good at rapping, Mike is fat and sexual innuendo" where they sit awkwardly between classic and nu-age hip hop trying to offend neither party.

Anonimity means that people here create for onle one reason, entertainment.
Since upvotes karma and usernames are not a thing there is much less bandwagoning over forced references and instead actually funny content gets the most exposure
Also the speed at which 4chan tends to be promotes the noteworthy content over the shite content because the good content will be reposted into many threads and saved by lots of people while the shite content gets pushed off page 10 quite quickly
