What music today carries on the legacy of classic rock? What artists and genres are the modern descendants?

Depends, are you strictly talking dadrock or do you include most rock from the mid 60s to the late 70s?

Is it though? People say that but it really doesn't feel like it is. Their songs are explicitly about Satanic themes and there is at least one song (He Is) that is literally a sincere worship song but it is about the devil.

Sometimes you have to read between the lines. These guys use legit satanic imagery, symbolism and ideas in their art, I doubt there isn't a degree of sincerity to it.

Queens of the Stone Age. You can hear influence from all the classic rock groups. Alt rock has shifted instrumentation to be more dynamic but they're probably the closest sounding active today. Phenomenal stage presence too.
