I don't know man. I have my own intepration of the album where I listen to it as a concept album, even though it probably is not one. Entirety of Hesitation Marks may be about fighting Mr. Self Destruct again, with the first track referencing the track "Mr. Self Destruct" with "Eater Of Dreams" which sounds real close to "I am the end of all your dreams".

The three songs after that are all about coming back and rebuilding yourself after some terrible event, this almost seems like he is referencing protagonist's attempted suicide in The Downward Spiral. Find My Way even makes a call back to "I Do Not Want This"

All Time Low is about the voice inside his head coming back. He even calls him "your voice in fucking echo stereo", Mr. Self Destruct (the other voice) had always different voice, robotic sounding. Best example of this, is again. "I Do Not Want This".

Dissapointed is more about self loathing again, in Everything the protagonist tries to tell the voice to back off, but he comes back.

Then the voice in Satellite reminds him that he is part of him and literally is inside of his head.

Then Various Methods of Escape is him about trying to over come the voice to find a way, but he doesn't.

So in "Running" he doesn't face his problems and just runs.

In I Would For You some one comes along, some one he loves, he loves her so much that he pushes his self-loathing aside and makes himself the better man for her.

And finally, in In Two he splits and seperates himself apart from the voice, only to find he cannot properly even know which is which.

While I'm Still Here is the protagonist turning to the person he found which encouraged to change him, he is either commiting suicide or is still deeply depressed but keeps fighting on, but he does not know how long he can handle it.

This is just how I listen to Hesitation Marks. I know it's not a concept album, but I thought it was interesting.

The entire reason why PHM is cheesy is because a majority of the lyrics are based off personal diary entries Trent kept at the time. The reality is that sadness, depression, love, and wanting can be very cheesy things.
